I'd say Sky Ferreira has hella influence too. I don't think Olivia Rodrigo's album would be a thing without Sky. S*** was way ahead of its' time

I'd say Sky Ferreira has hella influence too. I don't think Olivia Rodrigo's album would be a thing without Sky. S*** was way ahead of its' time

eh i think sky was simply a part of this massive wave of indie-rock-pop that emerged in the early 2010's. people like Bleachers (Jack Antonoff) or Arctic Monkeys did as much to bring rock back into pop as Sky

there’s plenty of artists with like one album and they’ve influenced a lot like the shaggs influenced kurt cobain and their album one of his favs ever

Saw a tweet yesterday asking people to give hot takes and someone said “The Weeknd ain’t even all that” and it got bombarded with likes and retweets. S*** blows me away how we have someone like him continuously making beautiful music just to be absolutely belittled by a mf named Jesse on Twitter

TBH I think the end resolve to this conversation lies along the fact that certain "alternative" pop/r&b/indie artists (Lana Del Rey, The xx, James Blake, Jai Paul, etc...) would release music that would have a rippling effect across the industry which is still seen to this day.

Sky's was specifically more pop oriented though. the fusion of rock and pop was really creative for its' time and nobody knew how to market that sound at the time
