No Abel is pulling a Donda and CLB. This cover is to get us talking about it. He won't change it
Out of these three, I think CLB is the only one that was specifically made with memes/controversy in mind.
Donda’s cover just seemed like Kanye wanted to let the music speak for itself, and this Dawn FM cover is very inspired by Weeknd’s deep love of film and prosthetic makeup
Could have been better and still in line with the vision though
Him changing it in reaction to the audience’s response to the original artwork would be comprising his vision for the sake of the viewer. True artists don’t do that.
If that beat dont move u, idk bro
it's 5 seconds and then slows down, i need a lil more lol

this. artists must be so uncomfortable putting their heart into a concept just to accuse them of trolling
that might be even worse than just straight up not liking it

It doesnt slow down on the original clip brudder

Alternate covers sure do seem inspired by Alex Grey or possibly just one of the greatest albums of all time ( Lateralus )
be a dream to see a collaborative effort in art from these two….
Or Maynard and Abel’s voices together
Hmm…
I’d probably die from excitement before hitting play personally.

ah just listened to the one he posted
cover art is giving
https://twitter.com/theweeknd/status/350087707000713216but in reality probably giving his proudest artwork achievement yet. lol

Then you get all the people on Twitter posting poorly made fan edits and saying they would be a better cover for the album, without even having heard the album yet.
These two always come to mind:

Even if I hate the cover art to a record, I’d always rather the artist’s original vision representing the album rather than some generic uninspired fan made bullshit
Idk if this is legit.

i respect the artistic exercise but once you start trying to impose that your artistic vision is what the artist should have been trying to get across, then you're just being disrespectful. that's not even mentioning how tryhard and overwrought most of them are. i feel the same way about mangling together OG versions of songs and saying it's what the songs "should have been" if the artist knew what was good for them.
Abel is definitely the best male popstar of the 2010s/currently. BBTM and Starboy are widely agreed upon to be the weakest projects in his discography, but they’re still better than 95% of male pop albums since 2010. S*** is insane

Exactly!!! Only time I’ll change the cover art to an album in my library is if the artist themselves released an alternate cover that I like more than the standard cover. Anything else is mad disrespectful to the artist like you said.
