He lyrics are the most out dated lyrics but his cult like fans will never admit to it
constantly “breaks up” with his thot gf that’s 7 years younger than him just for sales and to fool these emo kids that think he’s really going through a heart break
Idk how y'all still taking OP serious after this
Most artists switch it up occasionally at least. I could name you about 50 Chris Brown or Ella Mai songs that aren’t about either of those things.
Nothing wrong with highlighting a weak point of Abel’s music. Only way he might actually switch it up
yeah i agree, my first point was just that in R&B, melody and sound takes precedence over lyrics, which i still stand by
the only reason i went to the extreme is cause that s*** poster got on his high horse and tried to tell me i don't know r&b

People need to hold The Weeknd accountable only this instance though. It’ll only make him better.
I’ve seen it with my own favorite. From 2005-2015 CB really only sang about s***and love. Only 2017 and onward has he started singing about struggles with fame & d****, love for his daughter, spirituality, etc. which led to his most recent album being my favorite of them all.
Abel isn’t r&b though. He’s pop and that’s why his lyrics will likely continue to be generic and ass
I have said this before. He wants to be an actor. But his insecurities are far beyond him. He still isn’t comfortable with his image. If given the right opportunity and support he would quit music and go full on Hollywood
You gotta be the most unbiased and objective fan I’ve ever seen
Homie used to be on Reddit around the release of mdm straight going in on everybody on The Weeknd section
There was a post where this one user was literally making him threats
Imagine taking Weeknd this seriously
are R&B/Pop stars known for their good lyrics? (outside a few)
pretty sure these genres are more about the melodies and how they sound
also Abel deffo writes most of his own music
100%.
“I just won a new award for a kids show... talkin’ ‘bout a face numbing of a bag of blow”. Show me any other artist who has the level of explicitness to their music, that still does as well commercially as The Weeknd? Dude is a f***ing behemoth at this point.
It’s just shifting the goalposts, as usual.
He’s “Abundle” the pop star when he does ridiculous numbers (After Hours no.1 5 weeks now btw) and then they’re mad when he makes lyrics that aren’t ”insightful”...?Whatever the f*** that means. Like the game is popping with Jay Electronica tier Pop and R&B artists.
yeah let’s just ignore faith, hardest to love, scared to live, after hours, until i bleed out
cool thread tho
can you not read?
i know who babyface and monica you idiot
the point i was making was NEW
let me repeat
NEW
NEW BRAND NEW
r&b artists
telling me i'm not paying attention to lyrics and you cant understand basic english, but ill excuse it
Brand new or not the genre involved is R&B
Which is what the Weekend is and the topic at hand was
Don’t switch the topic to brand new because he’s not brand new you dumb f***
who listens to r&b/pop s*** for lyrics anyway
it’s the SOUND
and if you think abel sound hasn’t evolved you’re a pleb end of discussion

who listens to r&b/pop s*** for lyrics anyway
it’s the SOUND
and if you think abel sound hasn’t evolved you’re a pleb end of discussion
What random topic could we criticise the number 1 artist in the world on today?
Hmmm... his lyrical progression!
who listens to r&b/pop s*** for lyrics anyway
it’s the SOUND

Nah that’s a huge L for you. The lyrics definitely matter in r&b foh
KTT be like "Weeknd doesn't progress with his lyrics
"
Then turns around and stans Nav, Travis, Drake, Future etc.. lmao
Tbf i don’t think any of us are listening to him for his lyrics lmao. It’s the whole package. It holds him back artistically but he executes well
Nah that’s a huge L for you. The lyrics definitely matter in r&b foh
These niggas in here really said who listens to r&b for the lyrics
Turn on any 70s/80s/90s r&b star and the lyrics and melody are 1A/1B
