Where does Until I Bleed out come into the story and what is it’s significance in it?
Heartless - Beginning of the story, d*** trip in Vegas.
Blinding Lights - Aftermath of the d*** trip, the wild night continues and he gets into an altercation after roaming the city d***ged out. Video ends with him hitching a ride to the Kimmel performance.
Kimmel Performance - Just that, a TV performance for The Character.
After Hours - Following the performance, his sadness returns and he continues to roam the city at night, until eventually he gets taken by some mysterious force in the subway, which leads to him becoming murderous in the next video.
In Your Eyes - The murderous personality takes over, he kills the guy in the elevator and hunts the girl. She kills him, takes his head, and throws it off the building.
Until I Bleed Out - A purgatory of sorts, he’s back in the house of balloons spinning around and around with the vices of his past surrounding him.
Snowchild - Another post-death dream state, but this time a more literal and blatant journey through all of his past eras.
Too Late - Two LA models find the head, recognize it as belonging to the famous singer, and take the body of a male stripper to attach it to so they can have s***with him, which ultimately brings him back to life.
AMA Performance - The Character is alive again, back for another performance. But this time, there are bandages on his face hiding the changes that have been made to his appearance.
Save Your Tears - The bandages are removed, revealing the “perfect” face for a male pop singer, but it’s to the point where it’s disturbing. He’s performing again for a room of people who don’t seem to care about him whatsoever, and the video ends with him seemingly about to kill himself, but it doesn’t happen, and instead he has to continue to put on a smile and a show for the audience.

perfect
I’d like to know what changed between Starboy and this album, his songwriting and almost everything is on such a higher level. I mean I guess it’s just practice, probably some help

Fair enough this makes sense, I’m not a big Weeknd fan was really a hater until this album besides like The Hills and Wicked Games
There’s still one song from one of his first tapes that I haven’t found for like 6 years that let me know he was on another level. Alone Again gave me the same vibes with the transitions in the beat

Any clues on what the song could be? I’m curious lol

I wish, my boy was a huge weeknd fan and had it blaring in the car, I know it’s from the trilogy, and had a long instrumental break with a vibe similar to the middle of Alone Again (before the pre-chorus) with tons of synths , I’m not sure if I would recognize it unless I go back to the tapes. For all I know it was 2 songs that just flowed well lol
Damn I'm watching all the videos again and that After Hours short film just really hit me right now
The girl dancing with his head in the sunset with that sax playing in the background has to be the most beautiful scene in the after hours era

For some reason this post breathed a whole new appreciation for this era and its videos for me. I never really did a sit down watch of the videos like I would a movie, and it's f***ing fantastic. Abel is for real a genius and a gift.
I recommend y'all do a sit down watch of these videos in that order ^ and go into it with movie eyes if you haven't. Whole new experience god damn.

This isn’t from Trilogy but what you described sounds like Professional from Kiss Land

i think this answers you question perfectly

Crazy how much the initIal reception of Kiss Land affected his artistic process
