No. That's not effectively what happened and we've been spreading this lie for going on 10 years now when Weeknd himself said otherwise

Also, only on KTT will asking for a song, then paying the artist + giving them a huge amount of shine = taking advantage.

    Ofc it was taking advantage.

"House of Balloons was actually supposed to have more >songs than it does. I had so many records left, and then Take Care came through. “Crew Love,” “Shot for Me,” and “The Ride” were supposed to be on House of Balloons. I wanted to come out with like 14 records. I felt like “The Ride” was the last one, and it wasn’t done yet. Drake heard it and he was like, “This s***’s crazy.”

"Do you think Drake tapped you to give Take Care that feel?"

Yeah, he told me he wouldn’t be able to do the album without me. You can read it on the credits that he thanked me. I don’t know if that’s him being generous, but I gave him a lot of records. I made “Practice.”*

The weekend on giving up half an album worth of hits: "I gave up almost half of my album. It’s hard.

    rollingstone.com/music/music-news/sex-drugs-and-rb-inside-the-weeknds-dark-twisted-fantasy-176091

Its taking advantage cause he had the guy give up half his album of hits, when in hindsight the Weekend is clearly talented enough to have broken into the industry without Drake. He didn't care about Drakes 'shine' in as much as he wanted to make it, and at the time he couldn't be sure he would.

Whereas Drake could have used one or two songs, or even I dont know - since he knew the songs are fire and not his, let the Weeknd have them as his own song, and take a % for his verses (since likely Weeknd couldn't pay him at the time). Instead Drake took those songs for himself and put them on his album (and therefore, are not part of his masters not the Weeknd's).

Let be clear, The Weeknd agreed to it and knew what he was doing at the time. Doesn't change the fact that Drake took advantage of his position to rob the guy of his catalogue. Thats why the Weeknd called it out subtley, and why Drake (and Noah) was spreading all that BS that Take care would have still been a 'classic' without them.

Here's Abel talking about owning his music back in 2016. Obviously wasn't as culturally relevant back then as it is now, though.

    Drake didnt take anything
He simply asked weeknd for demos for his album
Yall keep saying “half his album” when it was just 4 demo records drake used
If weeknd said no then he would have just said no
Drake obv paid him for the demos

    -Drake asked for some songs.
-Weeknd agreed to give those songs.
-Weeknd got money + exposure from it.

Just like Weeknd told Drake he didn't want to sign to OVO from day one, he could have easily said no, and kept the songs.

Nobody got taken advantage of bro, stop.

I didn't say half his album. The Weekend himself said it was half his album. Therefore, suggest at the time it was half of HOB.

If you see it as fair deal then thats def your right. It's all opinion on what is 'fair'. However The weekend didn't think it was fair hence the comments about it being hard for him to do it, and clearly the value of those songs as had impact on how Take care is perceived, which is why Drake always copping pleas to try salvage Take Care credibility since it was revealed.

'Demos' is a spin, you can't hear the leaked songs and it not be clear what Weekend said is accurate. Those are practically finished records which Drake took.

    Sounds like a personal problem
Nobody held him at gunpoint to do it
He was offered placements on the album so he was compensated fairly
He had the right to say no if he didnt want to do it
Stop trying to victimize the guy
    They very clearly are demos

I agree with your first two points here. Wether or not 'it was fair', he willingly agreed.

No ones victimising anyone btw. I can only imagine why you claim that based on a discussion of the facts...I guess you are a Drake stan whose unhappy that it gets called out that Take care best songs all came from the Weeknd.
