A federal procurement specialist with 25 years of experience in national security logistics has told Project Salt Box that career officials inside Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) believe the Trump administration’s detention expansion is “doomed to failure.” The source, who is intimately involved in the current bidding process, spoke on the condition of anonymity to avoid professional retaliation in a highly politicized environment.

    ...

The department’s current expansion of detention space is modeled after Camp East Montana at Fort Bliss, the military installation near El Paso, Tx., that has been repurposed for detention operations, according to the contractor.

    ...

The facility has been plagued with problems — assaults, harassment, poor living conditions and deaths, the contractor said. The $1.2 billion tent camp racked up 60 violations of federal detention standards within its first 50 days of operation, according to a leaked internal ICE inspection obtained by The Washington Post. Three people have died at the facility in less than two months.

    ...

In December, human rights groups including the ACLU, Human Rights Watch and the Texas Civil Rights Project sent a letter to ICE detailing accounts of beatings, sexual abuse, medical neglect and coerced deportations based on interviews with 45 detained people.

Second, all contracts are now limited to two years. Ms. Noem has said that “after two years, there won’t be a DHS,” the contractor said, relaying what a senior ICE official told vendors.

    ...

What do you guys think she means by this?

    congress.gov/bill/113th-congress/senate-bill/744

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the interior enforcement agency of the
Department of Homeland Security (DHS), detains an average of 34,000 individuals daily—
nearly half a million people annually—in a network of over 250 county jails, privately-run contract facilities, and federal facilities. This costs taxpayers more than $2 billion each year. Since 2009, congressional appropriations laws have included language on immigration detention beds that is known as the detention bed quota.

nah, this all started under Obama, he enabled the mass collection of cellphone data with the NSA. They all in this together. The final goal is ultimate surveillance with Palantir and whatever they decide to do with Elon’s satellites

Thinking back to it... it's kinda wild that discovering there was nationwide (probably international too) surveillance wasn't able to trigger a revolt or any change in the consciousness of folks
Although I guess the whole system is designed to not give 99% of people the time or means to actually think about these kind of matters & it's increasingly worsening in that department
Since a missed shift etc. could lead to losing your livelihood & health care

right to vote but no day off to vote
Solely because they want less people to vote

All sorts of mess & it ain't much we can do about it
3-4 years time we'll be organising and they'll just show up outside our base as we're about to head because the surveillance network will be so powerful

Snowden put his livelihood and family on the line to try to get people to wake up and nobody gaf

The Patriot Act was basically the start of mass illegal surveillance sold as anti-terrorist efforts

That's why they allowed 9/11 to happen

    Now we're here

I was gonna go back that far but figured that’s been covered enough and the NSA/Snowden/Obama stuff was a bigger controversy that we never took as seriously as we should have and now we are an even deeper hole with AI, Palantir, SpaceX, BTC/crypto, Kalshi markets, the list goes on

we are so f***ing cooked man holy s***. they’ve found any possible way to gather private user data without you knowing. Ring cameras? haha, thanks for the free surveillance for $5 a month. my city has the most CCTV cameras in the world by radius, and it’s a “shitty city” in terms of infrastructures (at least that’s what they want us to believe) so I can only imagine the actual cities ahead in tech and surveillance
