    SZA barely makes R&B anymore

Summer’s always been overrated to me

    “SZA barely makes R&B anymore”

Snooze & Kill Bill are one of the biggest R&B songs of last year

Just recently made an R&B song with her former label mate

    Aight y’all got it

When was the last time you heard one of these R&B shorties make a track about getting her tiddies f***ed and nut on like Jill Scott goddamn it!?

    THE PLOT BEEN LOST

this the last time we had that type of track tbh.

SB: Jazmine was against the "spit on it" line at first til Ari had to convince her it was perfect for this type of song.

Ari really really one of them ones

Gambino developed as a singer. Tyler can’t sing and it’s crazy cause I think he realized he’s like Drake now and people just like his voice so he can do whatever and don’t gotta use plugins and much pitch shifters anymore 😂

    Gambino has a vocal coach
Drake does too infact & they tried to train him to think singer first, rapper second (vocally)

No reason for Tyler not to get one, we all know he wants to make a great singing album, who knows what the reason is though

Maybe he doesn't want to commit more time to his mad schedule or something, I remember when he had that interview with Pharrell at a festival sometime after Wolf & said he had started learning to play guitar & then sometime later on down the line he said he gave up on it 'because it makes your fingers ugly'

what are you talking about lol.

the @op post would make sense if this was during flowerboy but we're way past that now, and he IS a legit mainstream artist now lol his last two albums are literally among the top - especially his last.

and his"universal" hit already happened - its called Earthquake and WusYaName.

also people love Sticky its still charrting high af on billboard, spotify and apple music. its literally the only song majorly charting that isnt kendricks album, legacy christmas songs and that shaboozy country song.

im not even a fan of tylers like that but this comes off like you just woke up from a 5 year coma and aint peeped nothin thats been going on.

and carried by his connects? he was literally an outcast his whole career from most his peers and legends until cherry bomb and was a mainstream outcast fromt the mainstream until flowerboy. only TDE and AASAP Mob was rockin with him beforehand LOL.

everything else youve said just souunds like a personal opinion that youre trying to push as facts when the numbers and audience literally say different. and tyler got a huge positive reaction at The Pop Out which isnt his scene at all but everyone still knew the words to the two songs i posted above of his genuine universal hits.

yall just come off more n more out the loop as an oldhead stuck under a rock every other month. stupid thread.

So many things wrong with your comment that I’ll refrain from going into detail and just leave you be

When people say “universal hit”, think God’s Plan, Stronger, No Role Modelz, etc.

Earfquake and WUSYANAME are hits, but they are not universal

I love Yaya Bey, and her album before the one this year was my fav album of that year.

    ....

    that being said

I prefer her rapping to her singing a lot of times

Yeah I know, kind of unfair to compare with but I do miss that type of artistic direction nowadays

Even on that album, Kanye knew when to let someone else take the reigns
Two of the best beats are led produced by S1 & Bink, gotta know your limitations and be willing to let folks help you if the help is available

This kind of think is what led Kanye to revolutionise the idea of features on songs

    I can? It’s literally a Diamond record??

  • I'd also say that DRAM/Shelley makes great R&B music. Lyrically creative and interesting, solid voice for what he goes for, catchy as hell. Had a solid album this year.

I like Drake’s melodies and songs like Drew a Picasso and Race My Mind are so much in his range but I get why he tries everything he does cause then you end up with a Slime You Out

name the non-R&B songs on there besides F2F, Nobody Gets Me, and Special (which technically is still R&B-esque)

  • OP is totally right

it's all just evidence that how you market yourself & industry relationshups is what matters

Deleted my response once this nigga tried to convince me that a big reaction in LA from a mostly non-black crowd full of Kendrick fans to another one of the biggest LA artists out right now is a win for Tyler
