from a conscious perspective there will always be a racist element to white people supporting black celebrities who are not fully self-actualized and have a platform whose values reflect that
never understood why people don't get called out for racism when they make correlations between uzi/thug/future songs to ancient philosophers and religious beliefs for the sake of comedic irony and retweets
Man deadass. That whole thing started when thug blew up and it always bothered tf outta me
Why?
It’s not wise to measure people in the past based on modern premises. Virtually everyone will fall short lol
No anti-colonialims isn't a modern premise
montesquieu (French philosopher and aristocrate, 1689-1755) wrote about how immoral slavery was
Also many other thinkers/philosophers were against it or against the barbaric treatment of slaves throughout the whole trans-Atlantic slave trade.
So yeah, they can burn in hell imo

Yet it’s in the Bible? And still in the Bible till this day.
Let them rest however they’re resting.
Point A: cacs think being a hiphop fan gives them more right to speak on black culture than black people
you’re taking it completely out of context, the topic was originally about music so f*** outta here with that c***shit like it affects me lol
idk how many times y’all try and hit me with white insults, it literally means nothing to me

Memory a funny thing Joseph Massino
It’s crazy how the worst things you learn about in history could’ve been prevented if white “people” just minded their own business.

I thought you understood the culture rap music comes from though
Music never exist in a vacuum, hip hop belongs to a culture.
You replied to "are you white" with "yeah but I've been a fan if hip hop longer than you"
Being white to you is just a color, but in reality it may indicate that you didn't grow up in the same neighborhoods or went to underfunded predominantly black schools. there's context to this music that seems to escape you.
, a black person from that culture doesn't need to study it as it has been passed down, the topics your favorite artists discussed are their reality: you being a fan for longer doesn't mean s*** to a mother who never listened to hip hop but lives it daily thus can add something meaningful to the disscusion.

You’ve never seen good fellas?
the world doesn't revolve only around america, when you discover that you will learn alot more
yes, the world doesn't revolve around america. dont come at me with that ivory tower bs cmon. denying that this website is dominated by american music, movies, and experiences is silly. that doesn't invalidate other cultures, it's just a fact
"shut up and dribble" was enough to tell you that the post was mostly if not only about white americans anyway, so such a distinction is unnecessary
I thought you understood the culture rap music comes from though

I didn’t go to a predominantly white school I was 1 of 2 white kids in my graduating class if you must know
And you do realize when I was referring to studying history, I was referring to the 5 elements of hip hop culture which were established by the founders of hip hop so yes, in respect to what I was talking about, studying it applies to everyone
as a white man, the reasons stated in @op are not the reasons why I like hip hop and r&b
I grew up listening to artists like Prince, MJ and Miles Davis
These influences served as a natural progression for me to get into hip hop and r&b; I admittedly only learned about the history of hip hop as I grew up and did some research on the genre's past
I'm not gonna around and act like a self-hating white man pretending to be black in order to get imaginary brownie points on the internet, that's for the birds
Funny how some people in the thread fail to add anything worthwhile to the discussion. They're only contribution has been "its not all white people" as if we didn't know that
Y'all could've just asked op to modify it yet you insist on arguing that point whilst ignoring the main point in the thread.
Of course generalizing isn't the way to go but using that as a deflection tactic is scust imo
You could've said
"I don't believe it's all white people but insert interesting perspective to this conversation as white rap fans who aren't like those in op
I've seen this behavior in similar threads and it's exhausting tbh.
Edit :inb4 a poster says" well you could just make threads not generalizing that way we wouldn't have a problem with it" suck a d*** sincerely
this is just a generalization
whats wrong with generalizing here
if it supposedly doesnt apply to you then move tf on

Congrats for being not like them, we get it now
