The fact that we made this season somewhat competitive with the hardest schedule, losing a bunch of starters, new QB to learn the system, worst skill position players in the league and COVID messing with our practices and games.

Then factor in the young studs we got to build around like you mentioned, a crap ton of salary cap next few years and having some starters back along with a full training camp.

True. I put all of our minimal success this season on Bills coaching though. He’s going to have to come through with a truly great GMing job this off-season if we want to be competitive next year cause we lack talent at basically every position besides the secondary.

I’m kind of over Bill’s ridiculous pride at this point. Everyone knows what Cam is. He cannot throw the ball. Stidham doesn’t even have to be the guy, but give him a real chance to play. He can at least throw the ball and has a quick release. The short, quick passes against the Rams should have been the game plan. Cam isn’t even useful as a runner unless we’re at the goal line. The season is over. It’s time to evaluate. See if Stidham is worth a roster spot next year. Dump Cam, sign Jimmy if he’s available. We really screwed ourselves out of a top pick. We won’t even be able to draft a guy like Trey Lance.

No. Go get Jimmy. Even if the 49ers don’t cut him, trade for him. The asking price will be lower than trading up to draft Zach Wilson or Trey Lance. We blew our shot at having a premiere pick. You could also look at guys like Sam Darnold, maybe the Patriots think they can make something of him. Matt Stafford, though I believe this is a long shot, is another to look at.

If I’m Bill, the priority is bringing back Jimmy to prove he had a succession plan. Bring in Jimmy, a guy who knows the system and can make the throws you ask of him. Use the draft and free agency to add talent at the skill positions and maybe get an edge rusher.

I don’t disagree that his time in San Francisco has been disappointing. But I believe Jimmy is a different quarterback under Bill.

Feel like Bill wouldn’t pay top dollar for Jimmy, but if he could get him on a shorter term deal to prove it (obvi not going to be anywhere near as good as the one Cam is on) that would be dope.
