Whether he’s BSing or not, it makes total sense and I was expecting (at least Canon) to retire.

Canon would be 33 at the start of next seasons with a ton of injuries already under his belt, declining play, and a year off sure isn’t gonna make it more likely for him to return.

Hightower would be 31 and a half at the start of next season, also a ton of injuries under his belt and having had a full year off. Tough to see him coming back, but I do think he is more likely if either of them do. Hard to see him being anywhere close to worth his contract tho, and idk how much is guaranteed but he is certainly a cut candidate if it isn’t.

Whether or not we’re capable of competing, there’s no getting around it now: our record just isn’t good enough to get into the playoffs given the strong records across the AFC this year unless the Bills had a massive collapse the next few weeks, which is unlikely.

That being said, naturally I expect us to win now that all we can do (*as fans} is root for a higher draft spot. And this is the season (and year) for Murphy’s Law lol.

I get that from a player/coach perspective you def want to win the game obvi.

But from a fan perspective, there’s no denying that we are out of the playoffs and therefore the best you can hope for from a fan perspective is that our young guys play hard, improve, but ultimately that we lose our remaining games to get a better draft position.

Again, I think you’re misunderstanding what I’m saying though. I’m not mad at Bill or the players if they make plays to win the game (that’s what they’re paid to do).

I’m talking from a fan perspective, at this point I just see it as more helpful to us overall if we play hard, but ultimately the scoreboard shows us with less points at the end of the game (not that we did anything purposely to make that happen).
