What's the indication between now and their latest (great) album that bro doesn't care about the bands music? I'm not really tapped in. Don't people not really love the new The Voidz stuff either?
he's been saying sort of passive s*** for a minute, he's just not fully dialed into it anymore
Rebekah Sherman-Myntti: When you treat the new thing like you once treated the old thing in its early days, is it just because of that feeling of purity or something? I guess that's what I mean.
Julian Casablancas: Yeah, I don't know if it's really doing... it's not really checking those boxes that I described to you earlier. I fought for that in the early days, and it made us butt heads. I like working in respectful environments.
Rebekah Sherman-Myntti: I hear you. Well, from how you've described The Voidz, it's a very collaborative and supportive dynamic.
Julian Casablancas: Yeah, I think success affects people differently. And so I think, in terms of The Strokes, I don't want to like, you know, name names, but I can't really relate to all of them, musically or otherwise.

talks about how much he feels like it's become a day job and he's checked out a bit in this interview
“We had entered a mechanism that kept us together solely for financial reasons, pushing the band’s creativity into the background,” Casablancas explained. “So I came to the conclusion that wasn’t the way I wanted to develop.
“We hadn’t played for a while. So it was still fun, but when you start playing 30 or 40 shows, the music doesn’t move you. You feel phoney. To some extent, that’s why I play with The Voidz. I couldn’t care less about playing ‘Last Nite.’”

Word thanks, pretty recent too

yeah and i've also seen him say he doesn't even talk to the other members outside of strokes related s*** at all, his basic attitude is that it's his day job and voidz is his real creative outlet now. but i think they can still make something truly great like New Abnormal under those conditions if it's done right!
I thought Rick Rubin was working with them on the new one too, the way the artwork is and even the music tells me different

i don't understand why so many people think it's not at least top 3 in their discog, and that's a lot of people that think that...

i cant get into the new abnormal
but comedown machine is special to me idk how to explain it but they were just trying random s*** and having fun and as a result the album is super varied and engaging
song is actually pretty good but why the autotune? it adds nothing. it detracts a lot from his vocal interpretation which might be good. However, it's all flatlined
Album out June 26th but my tour date is June 19th? lol
