I commend Monte for saying this but that ain’t his responsibility. Hopefully the deal with Motown can open up more doors for Smi to work with more known producers.

I think gaining real chemistry with producers like Groove and Kal Banx is more valuable than a label paying for placements

I get what you’re saying, album wise he’s better off doing it that way. However, Monte also mentioned that it doesn’t take Smi long to lay down a verse. He indicated that Smi cooks something almost instantly during a session. That works well with more known producers in the industry, Smi is very easy to work with because of that. That’s why a few years ago I was excited about the possibility of a Smi and Metro tape. This method is more of a mainstream approach sure, but it also highlights his versatility and talent on another level. Just imagine Smi working with T-minus, Harry Fraud, or Dahi for example.
