I will say though: not that he or his team are going to particularly care or act as such, but I do think that the public pressure is on Kendrick to deliver at least one hit record with his next album. If not, the narrative around him is that he actually did need Drake’s name to boost his music commercially (which is a stupid as f*** narrative for a guy with Diamond records, but this is the era of discourse we exist in)

I mean... this was a silly narrative to begin with. Kendrick has had at least one big hit on every album he's released. Except maybe Mr.Morale; and that album clearly wasn't aiming for commercial appeal.
