ken carson and yeat both declining from their previous albums despite billboard increasing the weight of streams tells me rage is already starting to fizzle out.

they both dropped bad albums but you’re right
Out of all the formats in every art entertainment medium, albums have to have the s***tiest ratio between what’s considered high selling and the size of the U.S. population
In any other medium, if a super mainstream work did 1 million units first week or opening weekend (depending on which medium we’re talking about), that wouldn’t be the standard…it would be a history-making abysmal flop of astronomical proportions
Like Jesus we really don’t give af about albums as a society, and my take is that it goes pre-streaming. I think there’s an inherent flaw to albums that inspires apathy from non music nerds
Aw hell naw we gotta get my girl o rod back to #1
Her and Drake deadass dropped two classics back to back lol. All i’ve been listening to.
i would be impressed if this future album isn't his lowest selling since the wizrd. anything over 100k would be a W though, given how rap has been performing lately.

I mean, the only other two mediums that debut with 1M+ are film and video games, and with film it's very easy to see why: they're only released in theaters for a limited window, so if you wanna see a movie in the best format you have about 40 days to do so before it gets pulled.
Video games are pretty easy to explain to: there's no major streaming service where all the biggest games are releasing day one & available to play for the cost of the monthly subscription, so if a new game comes out and you want to play it, you pretty much have no (legal) choice other than buying it.
Music has been much different over the past 10 years. Every new album releases on streaming, and the only reason people actually buy copies now is to own it on physical media or to support the artist, but if you simply want to hear the album once all you have to do is search it and click play. Big albums still get hundreds of millions of streams first week, but the number seems lower because they're reported as "sales equivalent units", which is a completely made up and arbitrary metric that was invented to recognize the takeover of streaming
True @serenade but also this is his first solo album in a half decade which I think will boost the curiosity

150k+ ez
Ken Carson couldn't even make the title
Rylo Rodriguez was close to Ken Carson's sales minus the promo
Iceman will be back to #1 on apple music in less than a week lol. This future album weak as hell

I feel what you saying but on the streams point I’m ngl…I look at streams as closer to to movie trailer views than they are to movie ticket sales

Yeah...I was disappointed af.
Some of those songs almost sounded like a parody of Future.

How? A stream of a song or an album is someone experiencing the art... a movie trailer view is someone just watching promotional material for the art
Damned by Miguel getting big on Tiktok, almost top 100 on Spotify
