When the collabs with Carti dropped, tons of people were talking about why he would collab with him. I talked to people IRL about it and convos were all over social media. There were articlea written about it. So yes, people were talking about it

the only people who were talking about the music collabs in any real capacity were carti and kendrick stans both crying about it, anything else was white noise. let’s be serious

  • mangotflu

Its crazy when you look at the last 10-15 years of superbowl performers lol. its literally 99% artists that people don't care about anymore

Non sarcastically, this is a great point. It showed people the beef was fake and Kendrick didn't really believe what he said.

Kendrick hurt himself and helped Drake recover after the beef by directly contradicting his angles from the beef with that IG song drop, Carti collabs and SZA interview.

If he stood on his claims in interviews, said f the awards shows and superbowl, people would had been like wow he was really serious about Drake. Instead now it just seems like low hanging fruit.

Kendrick’s main issue was Drake not being a man about the beef and keeping it jokes and friendly, scrolling through social medias for childish s*** that don’t exist between grown men, accusing his baby mama of f***ing his bodyguard, questioning whose kids it is between Dot, the bodyguard, and Dave, of abusing his wife and being a cuck to his best friend

I don’t know why ya’ll only ever view this beef from: everything Kendrick did was bad and uncalled for (despite it being in response to Drake instigating disrespectfully as f***) and he has to be held to his statements in response to Drake goading a reaction out of him directed at Drake in all his life

like we in 2026 and you niggas refuse to acknowledge that fact since 2024. it’s tired and you niggas are so disingenuous. instead, you turn around and probably quote “it’s karma for evil niggas like you too” when there’s only one evil nigga here and it’s the IG over a***yzing 40 year old man who instigated this s*** then turned around and said “why did he hit me?” smh followed by “you didn’t hit me hard enough, and I’ll never acknowledge how much I disrespected you, but I’m still standing and still got my friends/fans so HA I’m rich” like what the f*** are we doing anymore bruh. unserious beef, unserious fans, unserious artist (Drake). Can we move on?

Objectively Kendrick will most likely not do similar numbers at all. Looking at Drake's monthly listeners when he dropped vs how Kendrick's numbers are trending reflects this. People already heard his album from the beef in GNX. The momentum of it will be dead, especially if he doesn't drop for 1-2+ years.

And It is clear from the sales of the other 2 Drake albums that people are excluding, Iceman would had done 600-700k if he just dropped one album.

There is just a very large gap between Drake and Kendrick commercial wise.

    that reasoning is sounds ridiculous

most people skipped over habibti and maid of honour and just listened to Iceman
more attention was likely filtered toward iceman, the album people were waiting for 2 years for

how tf does it suddenly jump 2 to 3 extra figures without the other two albums

You missing my whole point. I'm not talking about Drake vs Kendrick's content.

I'm saying the angles he used that prompted most to agree he won the beef were somewhat contradicted directly by what he did after the beef. Drake having low morals, arguing people like him don't belong in the game then calling Carti your evil twin made some people take the beef less serious.

Many took what Kendrick was saying seriously and not just as fake beef angles to win so when he clearly showed he didn't stand on what he was saying wholeheartedly, people also just started seeing the beef in a less serious way which made it even easier for Drake to pivot after the beef.

    THE BEEF WAS NEVER SERIOUS

my f***ing god, what part of “Drake took it where it didn’t need to go” are you STILL misreading

Kendrick was talking to Drake about him and his actions…when did Carti call Kendrick an abusive cuck, scroll through IG for information on his peers family/friends, and pay niggas in LA for information for a rap song in a jokes beef?

all before Dot responded with Meet the Grahams.

it’s childish. he don’t view Drake as man. move on holy s***

We not about to rehash the beef because this is not how I'm spending my Saturday lol but Kendrick was never going to have a friendly fade with Drake.

Why do y'all keep up this lie that Kendrick wanted to just trade some "who can rap better" verses that would not included any deep disses lol? That is cope. He was always going to take the beef to hell. It was NEVER going to be a friendly fade.

People predicted Kendrick's angles in the beef years ago because everyone knew a nasty beef was brewing. Cole knew it was going to get nasty and dipped right out lol.

here ya’ll go with this bullshit

Kendrick was NEVER taking it to hell if Family Matters doesn’t drop. This is all Drake’s doing and there’s no way you can turn it around on Kendrick when what you’re imagining didn’t happen. We all saw it play out and we all heard Kendrick’s words on Euphoria. if you go there; then we going. Simple smdh.

Even 6:16 in LA was surface level. like what are we doing right now man. You niggas can’t admit Drake instigated disrespect with FM and got met at his level fully

beholden Kendrick to his actions after that fact and not holding Drake to any kind of fire in the process of a situation he fully created by himself, AFTER scrolling through IG and calling a nigga an abusive cuck, is disingenuous and you niggas f***ing suck

why do you say this when we have living proof of what happened

like that was not a scathing record

cole dropped 7 minute drill s***ting all over Kendrick and his catalog - wild

drake drops BOTH push ups and Taylor made freestyle with the WHOO KID sample, already on bullshit, with the song tampering off into family matters - wild asf

nigga if anything DRAKE was never trying to have a friendly fade with this nigga
all of his s*** was telegraphed

Surrrrre. Kendrick just randomly came up with the daughter nonsense, PDF lines, the countless other very personal angles overnight? Someone like Kendrick who takes a very long time to compose his music and verses?

The way he talked about him was clear he was preparing for it for a while. The way he talked about how he hated Drake was clear. Bro had cut off Drake for probably a decade and rejected attempts of doing a collab where they could go toe to toe.

We might not know the whole story of how their relationship initially broke down but someone who you are no contact with for the better part of a decade is not someone you want a friendly fade with.

I don't understand the need to keep up this lie, it's okay if Kendrick wanted a straight up beef with him. No need to protect his image like he just wanted to up the competition, you can do that without going no contact with someone who you were so close with at the beginning of your career.

Everyone in the industry knew Drake and Kendrick were on bad terms lol. It was no secret.

Drake tried to potentially extend the olive branch at least once to do the First Person Shooter with him as Cole said but Bo1-da told Drake to just get Cole instead because Kendrick didn't seem to be down and it was closed to FATD's release date (as told my Cole himself).

To reject someone's collab basically then drop a diss record was never a friendly fade. That is positioning for a nasty beef. When was the last time we had someone do something like that then expect a friendly fade? Friendly fades don't usually happen in rap with rappers when you are dropping diss records and serious subs. Why would that be the case for Drake and Kendrick lol?

i guarantee you no one outside of this website gaf about any of that

It was definitely folks irl that started questioning what his problem with Drake was when he hangs out with niggas like Dre and Carti. You might be too deep in some serious Kendrick discussions but outside it was something people brought up. He dropped MTG and gave multiple features to a man that abandoned his wife and child. Most hip-hop fans and casuals at large didn't just gloss over that considering it wasn't even a year later. It didn't help that they didn't really hit like that either

They were gonna do First Person Shooter. Kendrick relented at the last second while Drake was waiting on his verse. Kendrick decides not to do the verse and Drake gets Cole instead.

They then proceed to sneak diss him on the record.

    Kendrick responds on Like That.

If everyone knew they were on bad terms why does everyone also act like Drake didn't understand where this animosity from Kendrick even came from?

numberous weeks at #1 - done by countless other artists
multiple hit singles - done by 100s of other artists
    a song #1 for 13 straight weeks - done by 24kgoldn
4b streams in a year - done by many artists
headlined superbowl - done by Usher in 2024

    now Lil Baby
My Turn - the album with the best longterm performance out of any artist in 10, 20+ years. Destroyed Travis Scott, Drake, Adele, Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, The Weeknd. None of them have come close to having an album with My Turn's performance.

All by a black rapper from Atlanta without having to get on his knees for white media like Kendrick/Drake/Taylor. No one has done what Lil Baby did since Eminem in the early 2000s

But sadly people only celebrate hiphop achievements when white media parades it

God y’all gotta give it up

GNX wasn’t a flop at all, It was a very successful album and I’m 100% positive his next album will do similar numbers to Iceman

Iceman a dope album that also performed very well. Drake is not “eliminated” or “finished”

Drake and Kendrick are both huge artists. This constant arguing “drake did these numbers!” “Oh yeah? well Kendrick did these numbers!” Is just so pointless

No but you've gotta admit they did divide attention and take at least some streams away, probably mostly on the first day while people went to spin Habibti / Maid of Honor instead of spinning ICEMAN a 2nd/3rd time

It wouldn't have been a 1:1 addition of 200k sales to ICEMAN, but I think he would've at least broken the 500k threshold without other albums to draw attention and streams away. I don't think that's an unreasonable claim

If i had to guess, I’d say it maybe took like 50M streams away from ICEMAN

Based on the numbers, it seems like the casual listener didn’t engage with the other two albums whatsoever

Okay, let's all take off our stan caps.

Carti is objectively a terrible father. He has choked his partner, beat them and been an absentee father. I'm sure he has improved his behavior towards his kids / partners but he has done some things that would prompt many courts to block regular people from ever seeing their kids again.
