Kendrick. Does. Not. Care. About. Sales.

holy f*** can we move on now. he can literally do whatever he wants on the next project and be unfazed because Drake got some sales records

He cares about the perception of who the #1 rapper is. And sales play a large part of that debate and he knows that. So yes, he does care.

Anyone who thinks otherwise really a fool

I noticed for this Ella Langley character about 20-25% of her metrics come from radio play

Does anyone know the formula behind this and why radio play is even a consideration at all when you don’t actually pick what you listen to on the radio?

because the labels can easy control the s*** and its another tool they have to force artist to sign contracts. they fixed the 'loophole' that allows artist to chart high just based on streaming.

2018 scorpion and how drakes single were performing had labels in their feelings.

Yeah I hope Kendrick doubles down on the smashes next album, f*** the hits-experimental back and forth approach this time. Tired of my nigga being disrespected, like please show these shallow mfs what time it is. Give em the candy

I’m talking an album full of Swimming Pools/Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe/Humble/Not Like Us/Squabble Up/Luther/TV Off, these b**** niggas don’t deserve deep cuts…nothing but smashes

This just reminds me how far behind Cole is compared to Drake and Kendrick in his hit making ability. He has really cemented his spot as #3 of the big 3.
It’s disappointing because imagine how much bigger hip hop would be and how much more competitive the big 3 would be if he knew how to make hits like the others. The gap in his sales numbers is kinda sad, I didn’t see it coming in the early days of them. I just assume he would figure out how to make hits eventually.

You're saying Kendrick only achieved those things because he dissed Drake. So again I ask, why didn't Rick Ross and A$AP Rocky achieve those same things after dissing Drake?

Kendrick was the right puppet to rally behind, as he had a solid fan base and catalog going into the beef.

If Kendrick didn’t care about sales and getting bigger, DAMN would not exist. Luther and similar tracks would not exist.

You don’t just create those very forced more pop tracks just because lol.

Brother Rick Ross and rocky are hardly even top 10 rappers in this day and age. Nobody would rally behind one of them because they aren’t even taken seriously like that

Arguing that Kendrick didn’t explode in popularity and benefit massively off the beef is just a ridiculous hill to die on. Why even dent that

Saying that “Kendrick got a boost in popularity after the beef” and saying that “Drake is the reason Not Like Us and GNX were successful and the reason Kendrick got the Super Bowl” are two separate statements

Nobody ever denies that the beef boosted Kendrick’s popularity for that album cycle. But the same can be said for Drake too. FATD was his lowest performing album but ICEMAN is outperforming it. That’s directly because of the beef

Radio play is there to give labels ability to control the charts through payola. It’s a win-win for the large labels and radio stations

But if Drake had dropped a global hit record and then performed at the Super Bowl, you wouldn’t be pushing some conspiracy theory that the industry conspired together to take down Kendrick

They literally just made streaming weigh more on the charts so this theory is also bullshit

idc what Billboard talking about, I just hate that people present the conversation like J. Cole isn’t meant to be up there with them when one of them was calling him twin. Cole got hits and is one of the easiest artist to play in just about any setting and for anybody

the course corrected a tiny bit recently but still have had over 5 years of radio play being over valued like crazy in a streaming era

its impossible for certain artists to chart nowadays because of that. the whole system is made for label pushed pop stars to shine because that were the radio play payola is getting invested in.

No one said he doesn’t have hits. But it is objectively true that Kendrick and Drake have both more and bigger hits than him.

Cole really hasn’t had a hit record since like 2019

It’s definitely not because of the beef lol. FATD wasn’t marketed nearly as well as Iceman and most people felt there was a lot of over saturation from Drake leading up to it. Iceman came after a 2 year drought from Drake (the PND collab was just some minor project so not counting it).

Furthermore, these numbers are due to the new rules. Iceman would perform even worse than FATD if the rules were the same as around that time. The beef very clearly hurt Drake and benefitted Kendrick

You do pick what you listen to on the radio , people just pick it for you based on whether or not you turn off from the station when a song comes up

Jay Z definitely picked Kendrick to perform at the Super Bowl due to the beef, the jig is up. They tried, but the Dot era is already over.

YouTube withdrew streams from Billboard in January. If their streams still counted, ICEMAN would’ve debuted with more streams first week than FATD, while having five less songs.

You're delusional if you think the beef didn't have an impact in Kendrick getting the nod from Jay Z for the Super Bowl
