idk about the smile sub but r radiohead is just a s***post sub like the big kanye ones, makes sense to me
It doesn't always get that way when there's actual news being posted lol
Mega hyped. I never knew Bodies Laughing dates back all the way to 2005.
This may be their best song

Zero sum got me twerking in the office
what the helle is thi
Half the songs were so groovy I was doing what the dog in your pfp is doing
Really great album. Honestly we’ve had so much good new music from them that like I don’t even mind if Radiohead just does a greatest hits tour without a new album. Thom hasn’t just fed us we’ve been absolutely stuffed. Not to mention the upcoming unannounced album with Mark Pritchard.
Pretty amazing to see this flurry of creativity from Thom, it’s not normal for artists of his stature at his age.
Also I think I have a theory on why some Radiohead diehards aren’t tuned into The Smile as much. For them, Radiohead is very meticulous and moody and edgy and that really connects with them. They don’t really care about Thom or Jonny or that element of it— they just love how Radiohead specifically resonates with them. For them, The Smile is different enough from that— spontaneous, more carefree, unpretentious— and it doesn’t hit the same for them. That’s my little pet theory. It definitely isn’t a marketing issue.

Literally same!
Maybe just not in the mood right now but didn't enjoy this much. Will try it again later in the weekend.
well. certainly the least i connected with a The Smile album off first listen. i legit started zoning out in the middle forgetting what i was listening to (Don't Get Me Started, Tiptoe)
Zero Sum and Eyes & Mouth are the standouts to me. No Words and Bodies Laughing were cool too

DGMS is the worst Smile song and putting it next to Tiptoe is certainly a choice.....
But I still very much like the album
Yeah I had a weird reaction to the record itself but keep returning to individual tracks like a fiend, even more so than Wall of Eyes (which flows perfectly as a record)
Foreign Spies- eh
Instant Psalm- maybe a grower?
Zero Sum- banger
Colours Fly- highlight
Eyes & Mouth- highlight
Don’t Get Me Started- butchered the live version and I’m not one of those fans who toxically prefers the live versions. It is too quiet and hollow compared to the initial live versions with Jonny’s guitar
Tiptoe- weird to mix the ambient field recording esque piano with the studio strings— clash of textures. The BBC live version was stunning and a bit slower
The Slip- phenomenal.
No Words- banger
Bodies Laughing- loved the revamped arrangement when they did it live but really preferred the OG arrangement at the end of the day. Studio version is kind of a weird mix
Overall— great but def the worst flowing studio album with some of their highest highs. I’ll definitely be returning to individual songs on here more than Wall of Eyes but ALFAA remains their best well rounded album by a mile for me.
Sam brings a much needed freshness to the rock songs. They sound so much more raw and alive than Nigel’s style.
But Nigel is a master at adding atmosphere, texture, and depth to Thom’s slower and more electronic work. He knows how to make them pop where Sam lets things drag a little/remain stagnant.
Especially now that Nigel and thom haven’t worked together in almost 3 years.
The Slip
The Slip is crazy work too.
On my 4th listen I was like 'Alright this fr sounds like someone on the run just gave someone the Slip"
Didn't help I was watching sports
