I think he did it on purpose to give a gritty mixtape feeling. Like and old tape deck playing
Sure but he did the same type of mixing with Meek's album and Rapsody's too. Even TBA has the same type of sound to it
Ghost of Soulja would be such a good beat if it didn't sound like it was coming out of a broken iPhone 4 underwater

True.
tbh some of the songs have everything clashing way too much, Hovs voice always seems to cut through easily while Jay E's sometimes gets lost on the more layered joints
It's like the background noise is too much, same problem as SRS except at least this one is listenable
so why did he wait 10 years again
"Some ask me "Jay, man, why come for so many years you been exempt?"
'Cause familiarity don't breed gratitude, just contempt"
This s*** amazing
this album shares a lot of similarities with Nasir, in terms of a soundscape, but this is on a whole other level lyrically
It would have been a dope moment if Jay Elec and Hov involved Roc Nation's franchise player.

Fire sheesh π€¦πΎββοΈ
so I after hearing A.P.I.D.T.A I think it's safe to say we need more Khruangbin production for rap.
These Hov verses gotta be old. Heβs not rapping this good now, his flow is way too good on this.
His uptown smile was gold like a Frankie Beverly day
His favorite song from Prince was not "Raspberry Beret"
It was "Sometimes It Snows In April"
