Track 3 of my first listen.
Way too much Jay-Z so far for me. But it's been great other than that. Production is completely on point.
Who can rap better than Jay Elect? Maybe André. Maybe! That nigga really on a tier alone.
Lupe
Mural and Wav Files are elite tier.
As a Muslim this makes absolutely no sense. He says he testifies that Mohammed is the messenger of Allah but then a few lines later says the “honourable” Elijah Mohammed is his backbone.
My Muslim friend said the same thing lol
I understand What you mean. I think Elect rapping on this very high level. The music was good but I agree it def feels like a good not great album. Still the best album this year so far.
All this hype and you began to expect great or historic
It’s a cool 7/10

I can accept Lupe. But he gets lost on his technique. If elect did mural it would leave you more in awe. Lupe impresses in technical ability but elect connects in a deeper way. If that makes sense.

It makes perfect sense
When he refers to Muhammad I think he is always talking about Nation of Islam’s Elijah
Nope, at the start of universal soldier he says in Arabic “ahsadu Anna Muhammad arrasoolallah” which means I testify Muhammad is the messenger of God
Not Elijah Muhammad but the prophet Muhammad. Muslims say this/listen to this before each prayer

I hope he takes Malcolm X's understanding of Islam before it's too late for him. May Allah guide him.
Mixing is super bad on this. It's good but it's not great.
Haven't listened to it yet but what's very bad about it? Just interested
the vocal samples he gonna have playing from a movie in 1950 or someshit gonna be >

How though? Could it be in his delivery?
@Goo have you heard his unreleased 2003-2004 demo. it got uploaded last year some guy had a CD in Detroit and uploaded it...
I think I could post a link, it was a demo CD
Haven't listened to it yet but what's very bad about it? Just interested
It's just muddy as f*** sounds clashing everywhere and just very lofi

So practically like SRS

Vocals could be clearer in the mix. Feels like the beat is drowning them.

Oh yeah man I heard some songs off it
It was nice

Ahhh kinda reminds of the problem with Drogas Wave, although that album was low budget

Obviously I need more listens but Hov is more charismatic and dominant than Jay E on this so far

I went back to it to hear the difference between then and now... and all I'm walking away with is he really have one of the greatest pen games of all time.. like there is 0 dip in quality in anything he does... I havent heard one miss of a track by him everything is amazes me.

Yeah, I don't disagree. That's why for me, on a long awaited Jay Electronica album, it's waaaay too much Jay-Z. Overshadowing him. Still a great album though. But should be more Jay E's time to shine than Jay-Z's, imo.
