recs for 90s metal

What have you been listening to so far?

what kind

opeth lol at the gates too

Katatonia’s dance of december souls influenced early Opeth, so you should check it out. Also, mikael akerfeldt (of Opeth) did vocals for their album brave murder day

At the gates (im guessing you are referring to their album slaughter of the soul) were pioneers of swedish melodeath (gothenberg sound). There’s a lot to recommend here, but many would consider dark tranquility - the gallery and in flames - the jester race as essentials

Ne Obliviscaris

90s tho

ohhhh mb

Edge of Sanity and other Dan Swano projects

For those melo death riffs, Intestine Baalism straight outta Japan

This joint is a known classic with melodic riffs, clean/harsh vocals and folk influence

Just in general or are u looking for specific subgenre/mood recs

Great picks

Intestine Baalism esp

Song so good it spawned another classic sludge metal band

My broski

obsessed with opeth

new Godflesh is hard

That trilogy of My Arms Your Hearse, Still Life and Blackwater Park

33 years old today

Went to a metalcore show in Shibuya last night Wasn’t the biggest fan of the music but the energy was killer

Kinda cute because it feels like the metal scene in Japan is really “new” even tho it isn’t. Seems like a lot more younger ppl learning how to play, hardcore dance, mosh, etc.

This joint here

shoutout to some of the OGs of japanese metal Bow Wow

Paid 15 bucks for it

Fuuuuck I forgot to look for Intestine Baalism discs
