Is Captain Marvel even an established character though? Like yeah she has a standalone film and was in Avengers but I don't think people know/understand her character enough either

BW was marketed as a serious origin story film tho, and even that wasn't received as 'that great'

This is just a lighthearted comedy superhero film like Ant-Man.

I just think a lot of people don't like to see women in lead roles in the comic film industry and it's kinda corny. That being said I still haven't seen this so I shouldn't be getting too mad about it

I think this is an over simplification. What would the reason for Wonder Woman and captain marvel doing so well be if it’s just like you’re saying? The issue is the over saturation of marvel content and bad stories. You can see a declining trend for the movies after they started with Disney +.

Don’t forget that unless you have Disney + and have seen WV and MM this is the first time ever you’ll be exposed for Monica and Kamala. IMO MM sucked and is the only thing marvel has put out I legit couldn’t continue watching.

But again. I think the main issue is over saturation. That and also that the last couple of movies just haven’t been that good and up to par with what viewers expects from marvel.

Yes of course that’s true. But Wonder Woman didn’t have any end game hype? Also ant man was released between infinity war and end game but it did about half of what captain marvel did.
