Apr 23i think what makes part 2 so incredible is that when joel dies, ellie and the player's motivations are the same - they both want abby dead. but as the game progresses and ellie's quest for revenge gets more deranged, you as the player end up at a crossroads where what you want and what ellie want are now different.
i think this is the efficacy of video games as mediums for storytelling and why part 2 only works so well as a video game. you control a character but have no volition in what they end up doing, i think it's what makes part 2 so incredibly compelling.

TrussMe· editedTLOU2 is a fine ending point, but if they do another one it should be more hopeful. We scraped the bottom of misery barrel. TLOU3 should be about rebuilding again. It's human instinct to get up after you fall. Just as Joel found something to live for during TLOU1, Ellie will too. The cycle of violence is vicious, but the cycle of life transcends it all.

giving the player an option to kill abby at the end would defeat the whole purpose
these are games that are crafted to make the player experience an artists vision

I know it won’t happen this way, but I’d love if Druckmann went on stage at The Game Awards and showed an Intergalactic trailer, then says “and one more thing…” and shows a TLOU3 title card on screen, and he confirms the game is in productionEither way it does sound like we could be getting more TLOU content sooner than we think

Interested to see how they continue a game about revenge and violence while justifying Ellie continuing to be the main character. Guessing being the cure plays a part again and people are coming after her to extract that from her. With some retconning allowing another doctor that has skills to do procedure alive.
