  • i think what makes part 2 so incredible is that when joel dies, ellie and the player's motivations are the same - they both want abby dead. but as the game progresses and ellie's quest for revenge gets more deranged, you as the player end up at a crossroads where what you want and what ellie want are now different.

i think this is the efficacy of video games as mediums for storytelling and why part 2 only works so well as a video game. you control a character but have no volition in what they end up doing, i think it's what makes part 2 so incredibly compelling.

TLOU2 is a fine ending point, but if they do another one it should be more hopeful. We scraped the bottom of misery barrel. TLOU3 should be about rebuilding again. It's human instinct to get up after you fall. Just as Joel found something to live for during TLOU1, Ellie will too. The cycle of violence is vicious, but the cycle of life transcends it all.

i hate people who say this wish they had an option

bro these games are made with intention and vision

giving the player an option to kill abby at the end would defeat the whole purpose

these are games that are crafted to make the player experience an artists vision
