One game per series per gen was a Nintendo thing that made sense that really makes no sense for the rest of gaming

except TLOU2 is a PS4 game. So we'd be skipping a gen.

Really wish Factions would have worked. It would have tided us over.

Pissed they spent so much time and resources on that multiplayer bs then they ended up quitting anyway. Now we gotta wait forever for new all the new stuff. I don't play multiplayer but I know many fans loved the factions mode. Why didn't they just make that for tlou2

Was a separate team that wasn’t gonna be working on this game or intergalactic anyways. Was just wasted time on that game, but not wasted resources. They have been reallocated somewhere else.

That's the whole problem. With Sony's GAAS push there was no way they'd release a multiplayer game without a monetiaztion scheme.

Every company wants their Fortnite. Billions in microstransaction for a fraction of the cost it would take to make a whole game.

But for Naughty Dog and the caliber and detail of games they make? It would be almost impossible to pump out content fast enough without sacrifcing everything else.

A tacked on online mode akin to Factions 1 with TLOU2 gameplay would have been all I needed. Unfortunetly the gods want more and without a constant flow of content and skins and other bullshit to sell your online game will probably fail. Gamers want to spend their money on that stuff, clearly.

Making Factions it's own game was already the first mistake.

Having it be a downloadable side content in TLOU2 but the content be cut short? We'd at least be playing it still.

I think the early word was there was going to an ambitious narrative component to it too (which they probably weren't able to pull off).

Sonys failed Multiplayer bet costed them alot

I think they’re using some of the ideas and assets for tlou3 though, and in general they learned a lot as devs that’ll help them make the next game better

I would be bummed to not get “druckmann’s version” of whatever part 3 will be, but ND are more than talented enough to make a great TLOU without him directing. Plus who knows how involved he may get once Intergalactic wraps
