I’ve never heard a good argument as to why the game’s bad. Tightest naughty dog gameplay by a mile and sure the story has some flaws but overall it’s a great sequel that evolved from the first game

Nah its the same suspects coming out in DROVES anytime someone challenges the notion of this damn game not being the greatest thing since sliced bread  without fail Druckman really got you boys on payroll huh cause yall really dont play about this game @Kr0niic @Drezo @Josuke @Jamian_Minato

I have literally been with Joel since the dawn of infection and death of his first child until his early seniority and seen Ellie go from having nobody to being a provider for her wife and child plagued by PTSD after she tried to forget... and did right by Abby where she did wrong by Joel (but shes evil? lol)
Look I'm not turning my back on those two idc who they killed nobody in that world has clean hands abby has 100% killed someones parents or children too so now what
You cant buy my loyalty with a second protag-and-junior-sidekick journey and a few flashy set pieces. I didnt need to that I needed to see Abby have some remorse. she didnt even need to say sorry, just something more explicit than the game supposedly shows us. f*** it maybe she didnt even need to be remorseful but what I NEEDED to see was her and ellie TALK through their differences druckman gave them both the same idiot-treament they did with Batman and Superman where they did everything but talk about it. they take the less is more approach and go way too far with it

niggas really be like "uh no actually youre wrong and abbyboo did nothing wrong loser 🤓"

yeah no to me the game is all about breaking the cycle of endless revenge and violence, by the end of the game abby had accepted that it wasn’t doing anything but causing them both pain while ellie still hadn’t accepted it so she goes to santa barbra. The game uses the switch between ellie and abby sections as a catalyst to show that they’ve both done horrible things to each other and are hurting from the people they’ve lost, I don’t think the games trying to make you sympathize with abby at all it’s just showing her point of view and you can choose if you want to like her or not. There doesn’t need to be a talk between them at the end for closure because by the final joel cutscene ellie’s already realized herself that she’s gone to far for pointless revenge that’s done nothing but hurt her and made her family leave her.

it’s not a airtight story like the first game but in my opinion they took a risk and it’s one of the most interesting and unique directions they could’ve took a sequel in and i’m sure neil won’t disappoint with pt.3

these are characters in a story brah why do you feel loyalty to any of them? Critiquing the story is perfectly fine but not on some parasocial s*** with fictional characters lol

also be real, with a situation like Ellie and Abby, aint nothing to talk about. Nobody will ever see eye to eye on that s***. Cmon.

This exactly. I don’t understand people who claim Naughty Dog was trying to force us to love Abby or to be on her side, we just needed to understand her. And to show us that Abby and Ellie really aren’t that different at all, they are 2 sides of the same coin

Abby and Ellie are both doing really s***ty things in the game, at no point is ND forcing the player to like either of them

Tlou 1 and 2 are classics

And 2 is better than 1

    Tlou 2 ending was perfect

Gameplay and graphics wise its definitely better than part 1. But story wise and pacing wise no.

pacing wise and parts of story no. The simplicity of last of us 1 story and the heart of it helps it for me. Many of the side characters they encounter are shallow in comparison to the ones we see in game 1. Last of Us 2 juggles more for sure though.

Well structurally they are very different games. TLOU1 is quite episodic where I feel neither Joel or Ellie are necessarily given much more depth than the side characters since 80% of the game is them just interacting with them and the story details these episodic adventures more. So yes, I agree TLOU1 has better side characters but TLOU2 is an immense deep dive on Ellie and Abby as characters that TLOU1 could never hope to achieve for any character story wise.

Even though Joel is a side character in TLOU2, I’d say that opening scene with him and Tommy is already one of his best scenes ever. It’s incredible acting, nuance, direction and writing that the first game just couldn’t capture. I’d say TLOU1 relies on big plot shocking moments to find its power. TLOU2 is a nuanced character drama for most of its time and I find that more rewarding from a story perspective. Tommy’s progression in 2 is haunting and far more effective to me than any side character in the first game as well.

Pacing wise, idk. I think both games have great pacing. If anything, TLOU1s episodic turns can at times feel repetitive whereas TLOU2 is just nail biting tension the whole way since you see constant development for the major characters that isn’t there in 1

Joel is still a main character in some ways to me in Last of Us 2,but I know what you mean since he is only so playable. Thanks for having a constructive discussion about it. Again I get you and what you are saying is right but the Abby friends story was all just okay they are only given so much same as Dina jesse. Where if they were given a little more it would all land better for me personally. Joel and Ellie are only so interesting to me. So when Last of Us 2 places Ellie and Abby against each other but their parallels are too literal to the point of both having a pregnant friend, love triangle and in Abby case her having a child with her akin to Joel it feels like overkill.

Tommy plot armor bothers me that much there is 0 reason he should make it to the ending and be goading Ellie to go back on this quest when he magically escapes death so much. I think mileage will 100% vary. Some of us didn't care what happened to Ellie or if Ellie got their revenge because Joel brutally murdered people and risking death across the country didn't click for us. I get it though . Parts of the story are beautiful and other parts didn't click at all.
