Bro somehow tommy f***ing survived that shot and now he's crazy asf while Ellie finally found her peace ?
It wasn’t a shot that hit any vitals
I thought he'd be alive throughout the game but wouldn't be playable until like half the game.
I thought the story will be Ellie finding out about what Joel did, get mad at him and decide to go find the fireflies to provide the cure.
Joel eventually follows her and they find the fireflies together.
Thankfully NB didn't do this corny s*** tho
Thank god
I get the theme of the story is revenge. I love the game btw, I just hate the motivation behind the plot, specifically Abby. Why did they choose of all people a meaningless NPC from the first game that they don't even give you the option to not kill? Why didn't they just make it that it was a small faction of ex-fireflies that wanted revenge for killing Marlene and not getting a cure. I honestly can't find myself to sympathize with Abby because I just didn't care about her father in the first place. It would have made more sense if it was Marlene. Like when Marlene was begging for her life and trying to convince Joel that Ellie was needed to save humanity I felt that. But this s*** with Abby? Mannnnnnnn keep.
Nora getting chased looking at the wolfs like
!https://youtu.be/zw8TCw42hZo
The cutscene with Marlene and Abby dad arguing over the moral choice about Ellie made me feel even less sympathy for him lmao like yeah they kind of did a s*** job with that part of the story.
they lowkey did jesse dirty lol. killed his ass off like nothing
I f***ed Jesse too lol I like stories that kill off characters you care about tho so I got over it
Edit: just noticed I didn’t type “with”
I’m keeping it.
That’s Ellie’s fault. Ellie left her behind to chase Abby, she was being selfish by letting her chance of exacting revenge consume her, instead of taking into consideration how Dina felt and what she’s gone through.
They had a nice farm, JJ, possible avenue to Jackson, etc but Ellie decided to tackle her trauma the same way she was brought up by Joel. At the end, it was all about letting go of Joel and his control over her.
yeah i know but it just felt like it was added to make the game even more sad/depressing, very understandable her leaving tho

that woulda been just as reasonable as abby but its like ND just WANTED you to connect and feel for her, trying to make it as personal as it could be. ngl it kinda worked for me i was like oh s*** i remember that from the first game!
realistically how long till we think tlou3 gonna drop?
i cant wait another 6-7 years

F*** Abby. Joel wasn't a saint, but I liked him
his guy makes a good point that there should have been a game between the 2 where Ellie learns Joel lied and ends up teaming up with Abby.
Ellie did find out but she forgave him so they were all good

Are we even getting one? This is something that shouldn’t be milked. Ending of this one was already bullshit. What more can they do wit this story? It would only get convoluted.

Considering how much faster the framework for the ps5 supposedly is, hopefully in 4 yrs

That ex fireflies s*** would've been so on the nose and boring. The Last of Us 2 is not about the greater good, finding the cure or even revenge on Joel.
At its core it's about personal relationships, being it the only thing that keeps the characters going in this post apocalyptic world. And how far are they willing to go to prove their love, to keep it safe, without hurting their loved ones or themselves in the process.
The biggest issue for the main protagonists is that new world humanizes violence. It's the currency of getting s*** done. But where does that violence end?
Abby and Ellie are at the center of that. They are the same girl, touched and intertwined by the same trauma. Which is losing a father. The entire game lets us a player see how destructive love can be and how Abby and Ellie cope differently.
Abby's revenge gets her caught up in the morals of civil war. Which humanizes her. She gets a shot of perspective of goodness and hope in the world, fed by Owen, Lev and Yara. She decides to let Ellie live and hope for a better life elsewhere with Lev.
Ellie despite being offered the same hopeful perspective of a better life ( Dina professing her love and promising a future together) still can't come to the realization that the violence needs to end somewhere. And at the end the game it cost her everything for absolutely nothing in return.
It's actually quite brilliant storytelling.
What do ppl think is the scariest part in the game? For me it’s either first walking into the lower level hospital as Abby or Seattle day 2 when Ellie drops down from the ledge and the stalkers see her and scatter

that hotel descent/hospital combo was unreal. I love how they introduced the mechanic of stalkers bursting out of the wall so you stay paranoid the entire time

Nail on the head. also think ppl are looking at the game too simply if they think it’s only trying to moralize and make you feel bad. Playing as Abby and seeing the other side of the WLF, killing the aquarium dog as ellie then playing fetch with it as Abby, etc.
It’s not trying to wag a finger at you. It’s showing you the extent of how brutal this world is and what its characters are forced to do to each other. the first game will always be great but the story and treatment of characters is pretty straightforward by comparison.
I was getting a little salty in abbys section thinking to myself “mannn kojima already did this with his own sequel 19 years ago” but there’s so much more to it.
Watching dude do a complete 180 on the game in real time is crazy
Yo his reaction to Abby pulling out a coin had me in stitches
"WHO GIVES A F***" fully went 0-100 out of nowhere

Don’t think we’re getting another ND for awhile. Not til they reform how they treat their employees
few articles out there on how they had high turnover and burned through a lot of senior developers while making the game. Industrywide problem but supposedly Neill Druckmann was even threatening employees that they’d be fired and doxxed if any spoke to journalists. Amazing game but came at cost for studio if they’ve lost a lot of key staff. Not that ND will ever be hurting for resumes tho.

Druckmann threatening employees came from a twitter thread I can’t find rn but will link it when I do. Lot of other dirt/rumors on him too. May have forced out tlou1’s codirector (druckmann is credited as sole writer for first game). Unbelievably talented dude who’s got his name on all of ND’s best games but never meet your heroes vibe I guess.
