I really feel like them niggas who read all the books before a movie come out then you see it and it's like "Why they change this? This doesn't follow the book. Why did this happen so early?"
Like playing the games being such a huge fan of em has f***ed up my perception in the way they changing s*** and it's stupid what they doing

Apr 15, 2025i’m just so curious as to what season 3 is. is it just the second half of Part 2? are they going to do essentially a full season of Abby? i wonder if they’ve already shot a bunch of it. this is where i don’t think revealing her motivations early/making her more sympathetic thing is going to work. part of the point of making you play through the first half of the game again as abby is to make you grow to like and understand her. now if you already like get who she is as a character, you are going into season 3 and going wait im just watching the same thing again from a different perspective? at least in the game, there was a mystery surrounding her that was being revealed to you in that half. idk. maybe this was just unadaptable game

Highkey agree. They can still talk about his guilt with Tommy. Personally didn’t give af about the therapist’s drunk outburst.
Also Joel can’t talk about what the actual problem is so it’s kind of redundant. At least with Tommy he could talk about it.
Also the line he says to Dina about not telling people he’s going to therapy was so forced lmao (I get the point they’re making but they could do it with a bit more finesse)

If the creators are real they gotta show Abby’s dad was a bit batshit crazy and the “cure” wasn’t necessarily going to be a success. If they make it all “Joel is bad” then I’m going to be disappointed

I think the setting of Jackson is cool. I only played like 3-4 hours of TLOU2 so im sure there will be a lot this season that I don't know. I do know that the changes are interesting, some I like, some I don't.My favorite scene was the therapy scene. just really great acting from Pedro and Catherine.
I agree with @Jake about the Abby thing... feels unnecessarily preemptive. You can introduce Abby and the fireflies without making it obvious that they are going after Joel. I think that's just TV s*** though because they feel like they have to throw in stuff to keep the audience engaged. The thing is there is more than enough to be engaged with in the episode without that.
Another thing, I think the show creators have a sentient understanding that Joel is well liked amongst people and have made an effort to really show he's not that good of a guy. They did this in the first season as well and I just find that interesting.
One thing I for sure didn't know about are these new type of infected that operate different??? I definitely remember that level in the game and I don't think that was a type of infected I came across. But anyways that super cool and creepy
Anyways, I do have a critique and I won't explain it further but this show honestly feels like it wants to be prestige but under the surface of that it doesn't feel like it has the substance to be that foreal. like it wants to be the REAL HBO drama but idk sometimes it feels like the show is cosplaying as prestige rather than actually embodying what makes a show prestige. I can't really give explicit examples but just the overall feel of the show makes me think like... hmmm i don't know if this show is reaching the heights it could despite all the set dressings (great acting, production design, action sequences, etc.)
Fascinated by your last point, in terms of substance I think it definitely has the chance to be prestige. I’m curious why you say that.

At the end of the first one there were interesting recordings you could find that made it seem plausible but I don’t think they’ll lean in to it. Would make it way more interesting

I think it would help flesh out Abby’s character. In the game she is very unlikeable because she does not consider such notions imo
(Iirc she says in the game she would give herself up for a cure but not sure her dad would’ve operate on her 👀)
