BnBallinTooI hate Joel even more now after the show.
In the game his actions kinda seemed OK simply coz you pretty much kill anybody onsight, so a bunch of fireflies in a hospital wasn't that huge of a deal.
But in the show he pretty much commits a massacre never seen before, even murders people that wanted to surrender just out of spite and the off chance that "they might come back to look for her".
All that just so he can feel like he finally had that second chance to save his daughter. Sick MF.

Ellie wasn't his kid, and he didn't have the right to decide her fate, especially since she would have 100% agreed to the surgery. Just go back to their speech in the giraffe scene. She wanted to help create the cure no matter what.

Man this has been one of the most rewarding experiences ever for me
Having played both games, the amount of lore we got in just last nights episode alone and how it deepens what I know about these characters further is just astonishing. i mean, it was probably hard to be optimistic for the future of humanity after living in the world they lived in for 20 years. plus think of how many times joel had heard about "the cure might have been found!"
also one thing the show did that the game never really did was emphasize how there was like 0 chance of a cure. multiple flashback scenes in the start of the show that was just "nah nope a cure isn't happening." it's not a disease, it's a fungal growth that takes the brain
the game left the possibility of a cure much more up in the air, but i felt like the point here was there really was likely no chance ellie's death would've amounted to anything
