letting it sit for a bit...
the stakes were low and i dont think any of their payoff moments hit. i think it was just poor execution on just about all fronts. felt zero emotion.
and this "massacre" scene was just boring and bland. he one shotting everyone not even taking cover, really? zero tension. they coulda had a true detective one-take sort of scene here. wasted opportunity to deliver something cool.
whole production just comes off as uninspired fanservice on something that they knew would do numbers because of the active fanbase and proven source material.

there were some nice bits in the first few episodes...
i think it was better while anna torv was around. but the shot of all of those zombies waking up to chase after them, i thought that was gorgeous. and also well done when they all came out of that bit.
but i pretty much don't like or care for any character. because why should i outside of joel and girlie. it's like scooby doo monster of the week with these ppl. i feel like i've learned nothing of the world. and to go through all of that and then just reneg on the last second, like there was no emotional impact. i just feel like whoever's at the head of this show is okay with it just being good. i think it could have been great but there's just like, inexperience in terms of pacing and character development. after 9 hours it ended and it just ... eh. idk.

liked the way it started out then after the first couple episodes it felt like they were just trynna get through things
wouldve liked it if they took their time and made more episodes, really flesh out the world for the people who havent played the game and gave more time for people to know the characters

I feel the same way. Story felt rushed and the cinematography + soundtrack was pretty lacking. Also there was barely any action. I wonder if they're gonna recast Ellie for the second game's adaptation
