Only similar as in it takes place in an apocalyptic setting. They are absolutely nothing alike

I agree the way 2 is currently set up is something that can only be achieved and successfully done in the video game medium. They will have to change around how the story is set up and how it is displayed.. will have to tell it chronologically I believe. Also new format will allow them to flesh out some of the side characters hopefully

That’s the thing though is that I really think it’s the most effective being told split like that. I don’t think that changing the order will determine the quality but how they handle the heavy topics and tone will. Even the tone of this season is lighter than the first game. I wish I didn’t compare the two but I mean it’s valid to do so.
I basically need them to go grimdark next season. The second game is one of the heaviest and most emotionally taxing stories I’ve ever experienced. The show could lose a lot of it’s credibility for me if that isn’t something that’s followed through with.
Like imagine what happens to Joel in pt2 but with the current tone of the show. It would be SO out of place.
why is this so much related to covid
Because when Neal wrote this 12-15 or however many years ago he had planned that he would create covid-19 as part of the role out for TLOU pt2, and then he had planned that post covid - the pandemic he created - he would drop a HBO adaptation to reach a wider audience post pandemic so that it would be a hit because now we have all experienced a pandemic and would more easily digest this story about an apocalypse
It was a plandemic of the last of us, really

interesting
interesting
It really is fascinating the more you learn about it. If you actually watch the 3rd episode in reverse there is a ton of hidden messages about how Neal Duckman actually did in fact create the pandemic in order to try and infiltrate Russian soil too

I really don’t think it’ll feel that out of place. Massive season 2 plot spoilers:
id rather have the death by golf club moment come and be totally shocked because it’s so horrific compared to everything else we’ve seen than see it and be basically desensitized to it because they tried to make every episode of season 1 have a violence level of the interrogation scene in epi 8
I guess I just don’t understand this perspective some people have of “because we havnt reached this specific violence threshold yet, scene X Y or Z won’t feel right”… like, why? It’s not like horrific moments of TV or movie can only happen if precedent has been set?

You’re telling me shock value will feel out of place in live action ? Who has been saying that

Also based off last episode, think it’s a little taster of what’s to come for Part 2. Probably the darkest/most sinister scenes we’ve had so far. They’ll be able to feed off of that.
They been foreshadowing game 2 and jerking pff game 2 fans all season to an obnoxious degree and at times making changes to character and story that take away from this season. Yet 2 days before finale y’all tweak if they can pull it off after they scored perfect 10s for what we have seen so far

I really hope they don’t try stretching it into 2 seasons unless they’re shorter seasons
When she calls you a f***er when you justify Joel
its easily understandable I’m not sure it’s justifiable though
some dude earlier said Ellie was throwing a b\*\*\*\* fit about the whole situation like :dead:
