I have been saying this throughout and people act like I am just a hater so I leave it alone. I like filler though. I like filler that helps connect the characters. There are some gameplay parts where I am confused on why you would cut. Because the gameplay and them communicating during it were part of the story. Show only people seem to be eating it up so none of what I say in that regards matters.

I think this adaptation, especially at this point in the show Ellie feels more the “main character” than Joel imho. Which for me, works for this adaptation and take on the story. I do think it’ll be less of a thing that is jaring for people going into season 2 when she’s without Joel because it’s not like TV viewers are used to “controlling” Joel or used to being glued to his POV season 2 spoilers

Oh yeah I agree I just figured it was a good question. Joel hasn't given them much to be attached to besides them liking Pedro Pascal in real life. In my opinion. Like they feel bad that Sarah died and want to see him complete his mission yes but shrug. I have been annoyed at some of the time used on foreshadowing Part 2 with Kathleen and tonight the daughter character wanting to revenge but I get it. Just feels like some of that time could have been better used on their connection especially to make Joels future mean something

I feel you - 2 more episodes could’ve been hugely beneficial. Fwiw though everyone I know who didn’t play the games isn’t having these thoughts because they have nothing to compare it too. But yeah, clearly I’ve been super super satisfied with the show but I do wish we coulda got a few more epi’s to let Ellie and Joel cook

A few people who have never played the games in here are at times saying something similar but just interested to see their takes when its all done. They don't have the game to compare it with no but naturally we compare to tv shows and movies we have seen. Especially when they are seeing the 10/10, best episode of tv or best first season ever (some in thread were comparing to first seasons of wire, breaking bad and more ) that some in this thread or on internet have said. Even with less time as RiseZero said some tv shows and movies with writing acting or chemistry sometimes establish that connection slightly better. it is what it is. Game 1 and Season 1 two different things and that's okay.
