Showing her turn is similar to Sam and Henry though like I get you but that is just the nature of what they show and don’t
naa i dont think so, it would b similar if both got bit.
when u got intensity flowing and you just kill it with boring character development it pulls you away in my opinion. this wasnt related in any way to what was happening to joel and ellie. were they trying to draw some similarities between ellie and riley and ellie and joel?
ill say this, and ive said this from the beginning. 11-12 episodes wouldve been perfect. literally my one big worry / complaint.
More episodes, better pacing (Bill & Ted were fine but that detour was not needed 3 episodes into the show)
Also more time with Joel and Ellie. They're supposed to have this super close connection but I'm not feeling it at all, but I guess that could just be me constantly comparing it to the game
Leftovers is low action
Leftovers is low action but it has constant character development
Leftovers is low action
I know this is bait but
Of course. Leftovers didn’t need action. Yet the dress yourself accordingly episodes 🤤
So you trust me
Leftovers acting just so good but they got a lot to work with so I don’t really compare. When I think of favorite hbo first season though it’s that for me

I think just make some of later episodes longer ( not flashbacks ) . With 80 minute episodes and two parters it’s already like 10
im more talkin bout the realization that she watches riley turns but ellie doesnt , isn't that how ellie finds out shes immune

For some that character development fills in holes in Ellie character . Also again episode is part fan service

Would definitely be a big moment to show her realizing she is immune but people aren’t shocked because game doesn’t show it . If you are saying this would be a good moment to differentiate I get you

It’s not bait . When people were saying this has best first 3 episodes or first season I mentioned leftovers and I am not joking . I feel it dealt with grieving and death well . With faces of actors and actresses I had never seen before . Yes subject matter different but cinematography, tone and other factors great . Watchmen too in some ways
Riley was captured by Umbrella before she could turn and was turned into a mutant. Ellie fights her in the last episode.

The draw of leftovers was never action. Am I confused?

Is the draw of this show ( not the game ) but the show action ? The action in this show has been the weakest part due to shaky cam . Same as tension overall . It’s not trying to be a thriller , horror show . It’s a drama more so than the game . We know they won’t die , use med kits , run out of ammo . They will aim poorly but the tension or stress present in game of fail states . I’m telling you as someone playing through 2 now . This show / series isn’t for everyone. I’m just finishing it to not have to hear “ you haven’t played it “ but it’s okay to not be invested in this universe in anyway or to think it’s some what overrated

Not knowing much about it, I always thought this was a zombie apocalypse game/show.
But really it’s just like when everyone came to the realization that Rick and them was “the walking dead” the entire time.

Less action and more a dangerous/tense world. So far there's little to no tension at all after the first episode.

Nah even when just game 1 just dropped many did have similar complaints of killing too many humans not enough infected . The world happens to be infected but it’s a reflection on humanity . There is no character development of the infected ( less thoughts than episode 2 one recognizing Tess is infected . ) they don’t talk . They mutate or add more types to keep it varied . Bloater presented more like a boss fight which hopefully we see again soon ( maybe next episode) but the “ action “ comes from the combat of desperation to do anything to stay alive , scavenge for resources and stay alive . A lot of the gameplay portions like that they’ve cut

Well there’s barely any of that desperation violence either, and when it does come it’s some wak ass choreography.
Shows really just been about people talking. Why even put this in an apocalypse setting..
The College was pretty nerve wracking in the game. It's a big shootout against a gang of dudes and emotions are high because Joel is finally allowing himself to care about Ellie. They barely survive and then Joel gets f***ed impaled.
Here he just gets jumped by a few dudes with bats and gets a splinter. It was so lame.
