To each their own . Going to replay 1 then play 2 for the first time . I like the simplicity of 1’s story but get those that like everything going on in 2 . Same as all first game to second game major stories

We’ve never seen Joel break down emotionally. Or see him open up about his doubts and fears. Didn’t see him deal with panic attacks or nightmares. Didn’t see him deal with the effects of old age. His vulnerabilities…etc

Pedro is bringing nuance to the character that can’t be just written by writers, it comes out in his performance.
