I think the violence hits the mark when its supposed to, like Henry/Sam and Sara. Tess's death was just stupid. Everything else fits the first game's tone like @Kr0niic said. Tess should've executed Robert like she did in the game though to hammer home how brutality is necessary to survive in this world.
2 is way darker with a focus on the endless circle of violence/revenge
Rephrasing question is seeing Joel kill less humans so far in the story take anything away from this story or season 1?
compared to those games no but last of us 1 the game is much more violent than this season. I am not saying whether that is a good or bad thing I am just saying they are different shades. I don't know if we need hyper violence to deliver the ending or deliver the message this season. Do I think Season 2 if its hyper violent will connect who knows. They have been showing the results of violence or off camera violence much more than on screen. The question they ask on kinda funny kind of is about this. But once you get to a great deal of human on human violence will it get the same core audience that came for the emotion and drama
Of course it’s less violent cause it’s a show to a video game
But I’m saying the violence depicted in the show matches the tone of the violence in 1

Much of the violence has been off camera that is why I ask and keep seeing we see the result of violence more than the violence itself. Are y'all reading these post
the way they mix and matched all the timings of the goals/locations for this last episode was soooo good.
it really is just an incredible adaption. moving pieces very smoothly to fit better for the new format
Yep
Easily the best game adaption we have ever seen and hope future adaptions get this much effort and love put in

I like to gaslight myself into thinking your talking s*** whenever I see a paragraph I think I read the first 2 sentences

I can tell. I am just typing up a general question that is a worthwhile question while listening to kinda funny
Should they keep not showing violence on camera and show the results after the violence OR should they show the violence and results of the violence which at time could be gore or a lot to take in to prepare the audience for what is to come.

Now for those off screen events.
Did you really wanna see Henry blowing his brains out or Joel brutally murdering that guy

A bit, yeah. Joel is a terror in the first game when you look at it from anyone's perspective but Ellie's. So far he's just kind of a grouchy dad who's really a softy. The ending of ep 5 really just added to that.
But maybe they're saving his beast mode moments for when Ellie gets taken by David's gang & the finale
i do like the sam and ellie scene in the game more personally
this one worked but also thought something was sorta lost without the cut to black. seeing them bury them was really touching and i still do like tho

Did I ? F*** no lol thats part of why I myself put last of us 2 down. Do I think some gamers crave that or that it adds to the story , feels and engrossment ? yes. Should they do it next season when the focus is different or in the finale ? who knows that is my question for you Will the violence in the finale feel as painful if its all off screen or we see the effects after

Lose lose situation lol. You cut to black people yell about pacing and it’s moving too fast
You show the after and people complain about “this wasn’t in the game”

Yeah you kind of get what I am asking . At what point if ever do they show the true terror of Joel versus more off camera . Showing it and not showing it both have their pros and cons .

I’ll tell you for sure in the finale he ain’t killing 50+ guards to get to Ellie LMFAO. I can see him killing like 5… maybe 8 max before he gets to the doctors lol. And honestly will have the same impact to me lol

Cut to black would be good if no one knew the story or ending. But for many of us that knew it was coming the burying them and keep moving west was for us

definitely. the cut to black would honestly just not work for the ending of a tv episode
but in the game it felt like it was just a perfect rip away from the peace. it's just a reminder to the player that we aren't allowed to really settle into sweet moments in this world. it was one of my fav decisions in lou1

oh yeah numbers not the same but the kill of marlene and doctor part of the shock of it was doing it in doctors case then marlene case seeing it. Did we need to see Marlene death not really . So I am wondering where they will draw the line. Like at what level will they get into more gore if any. Do I think it needs it ? No. I am just telling you what gamers going to say
That is why I ask

If they dont nail this scene then show Joel is ass

Absolutely
Works so well in the game and makes you as a player “move on” just like the characters. No time to cope.
In a show… that doesn’t really work. Maybe end the episode cut to black but start the next with them burying them? Unsure how to translate that to tv

for Marlene honestly I think they will cut away or have the camera pointing at Joel while he shoots to show his agreessiceness / desperate emotion in his face. For doctor,… I think they show it on screen

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bxNTHfk6-Mlol Joel is so Jack Bauer to me.
