I'm actually shocked at how the internet has somehow deluded themselves into thinking this is a TRASH game. Mostly thanks to a handful of content creators.

Why dont you think it should get it then? I'm just curious because the game, like every other game that comes out is trying to fit into a certain genre. In this case TLOU 2 is an action, linear 3rd person game. And the game nails literally on every aspect of that to an insane degree from an objective standpoint.

So why shouldn't it win goty? What game is superior in terms of gameplay, cutscene direction, sound design, graphics, and overall epicness of campaign? The game is vastly superior to nearly everything out atm so I'm not sure where the confusion is coming from.

Ppl can not like the game from a personal standpoint that's fine, but they dont give these awards for personal reasons they give them to the games that push the medium forward and TLOU 2 absolutely does that for its respective genre.

TLOU Part II won GOTY? Let the shambles begin

I think the plot and pacing are the weakest points of tlou2. I don't even care about joel, but outside of the bald kid, ellie in the first half and abby, the rest of the character are uninteresting and came off empty and just there to fill a cast, and nothing like the standout characters in the first game

Game is a 9, i'm not saying it's bad, but i personally think GoT or Hades should have beat it. Naughty dog games are pretty much story and the world, and the rest is eh, but if it wasn't for the name and the combat, there's no way it would've scored as high.

I genuinely think the game would've been better off being like 80% off abby and the bald kid. Also hate that i can obliterate and kill everyone, but any time it was a plot character their death is off screen or now it's 'violence isn't the answer. Is this what we should be doing'

but i genuinely don't give a f*** about the joel s***. there's way more points you could easily point out. they should've let shown these brutal deaths if anything. But essentially for me, this game turned the series into the equivalent of Game of thrones

I respect all this here and the fact you actually explained why, which a lot of the ppl who dont like this game dont.

Honestly, I'm not super crazy for some if the story and characters either. And dont get me started on the s***scene.

So I see where your coming from also about the pacing as well. I wouldn't have been mad at all without the inclusion of some of the characters and plot points. It's just I think people are looking at it more from a gameplay/epic campaign/ setpiece point of view which the game does too well to ignore.

yeah i personally think the set pieces and combat are very good, so obviously it's not a bad thing that they balanced stuff out and held the game together despite some weak points

Man imagine if they didn't have to hide spoilers in the trailers. There are so many epic moments they could have used in the trailers they used to market the game..woulda been insane they massively held back on the footage they showed, which was the right move but still interesting to think about.

Honestly since they already swapped out character models in the trailers I'm surprised they didnt show you playing as Ellie during some of Abbys epic parts like the rat king, sky bridge or island horse chase. Hype woulda went through the roof
