This absolutely awful from a story perspective. I can’t believe Neil tarnished the legacy so badly.

Would honestly love to hear everyone's alternative story if they didn't like the direction this one took. S*** was way more ambitious and more in-depth. This is the type of s*** your admire in storytelling (especially in terms of making a sequel).

Have no problems with this so far. Combat is bit tough but I never played the original so I expected that

    Inspired by Godfather II

    Two Storylines:

    A. Ellie’s Mom
    B. Ellie

They’d weave back and forth, A would deal with some story about Ellie’s mom at the start of the seraphites movement — she was close with the founder etc. Ends with her dying in childbirth, leaving baby Ellie with Marlene

    B. Ellie spending time in Jackson, Joel getting kidnapped and her going on a quest to find him. We see what the seraphites have devolved into, contrasting with the idealistic vision shown 20 years ago in the Mom storyline. Ends with Joel dying in Ellie’s arms — mirroring the death of her mom in childbirth

Sets stage for Part 3 which is the revenge storyline/saga. Part 3 would be chronological in terms of establishing Abby as just a person and then we realize who she is and she’s the one to kidnap, torture, and kill Joel.

Theres so many plotholes just reading this

Yeah there’s some continuity errors, more of how I’d turn this into a film trilogy (and thus fix those errors in pt 1 lol)

A sounds interesting. B is too generic for me. Something you'd probably guess for a sequel storyline.

I think there’s potential for really powerful stuff seeing what the seraphites movement was meant to be and what it turned into. Lev tells us about it but actually seeing them juxtaposed next to each other would be dope and jarring

Just beat it and there's gripes with the story that are valid but ultimately I still think they did a good job. 7.5-8/10 for the story.
I thought it would be a good story with serviceable gameplay but they nailed the combat encounters so well. it's tense and chaotic where a mistake or 2 hits hard and there's a great weight to every action. The animations are better than any game I've ever seen it almost makes other games animations looks terrible. There's a great fluidity to the encounters where small decisions matter and make impact. You're always 1 f*** up away from turning into a huge skirmish and burning through ammo and resources. The combat actually surprised me more than anything. The visceral reactions and struggles of anybody you fight and make contact with really help sell the feel of desperation and make the basic things like just stealth kills feel big.
I thought it might be a stangle simulator but the combat imo was some of the best in this generation.

Also to put it in perspective the first game is about Ellie
The second game is about Joel
Ellie is the catalyst for the events that take place in the first game but you play as Joel
Joel is the catalyst for the second game but you play as Ellie

The combat in this is what Rockstar thought they were doing with Red Dead Redemption II. I really hope Part II sets the industry standard on how combat should be done moving forward

Naughty Dog nailed the smoothness and fluidity of a hand to hand battle unlike anyone else, every dodge and punch flows like a dance number

What's everyone's favourite score from Gustavo for Part II?

I love Longing & It Can't Last (Home). Honestly wished they used it to end off the game.
