read post above your reply, I recognize there's some blind haters but there's also fans of the original that aren't a fan of the narrative and twist at all.

I can see why people wouldn’t wanna play as Abby but a lot of them don’t like it because they completely miss the point of the message of the first game

They think Joel is some hero ready to save this little girl he loved and while that’s apart of the ending, it’s not the full picture. Even without this game, there were people who criticized how the first game ended and how he wasn’t likeable. People miss that in TLOU world there’s no hero or villain. It’s fine to not want to !#play as his murderer but to act like he was was some kind man who didn’t mindlessly kill people, regardless if they were after him or not, is what I’ve seen a lot of people miss.

I love the character of Joel a lot but he’s not a perfect person which makes him intriguing.

see that's one of my biggest issues with this game, they try to vilify joel for saving ellie as if none of us wouldn't make that decision either. at the end of the day, it was a human decision and the right decision. and notes in the game proved the fireflies weren't absolutely certain that they could extract a cure from ellie. so they were batshit crazy and were willing to let a little girl die for just a chance to save humanity, not even a certainty.

Sounds like small d*** energy to me

but the game doesn't vilify him at all, and it doesn't glorify him either; it just takes a honest multi dimensional look at his decision

and him saving ellie was definitely a human decision, but it's not something that can be boiled down to a simple right or wrong when it's so much more complicated than that, and that's exactly what the game explores

So how can you vilify someone going for revenge? You can vilify Joel because he killed many people. He killed innocent people before he started his trip with Ellie. It also wasn’t the “right” decision it was Joel’s. He put his feelings before the world. And Ellie knew her time would come eventually

idk, to me the game's intro felt like they were trying to vilify him. even tommy was startled and possibly even started to look at him in a different light. it's obvious they're trying justify abby's actions by making you look at both perspectives. I get it, violence begets violence but the execution is not the best.

Tommy literally says that he doesn't think of him different and that he'd probably do the same in the intro lol

I don't think it's trying to justify anyone's actions at all, there's no clear right or wrong here

This basically sums up the people b****ing about "writing methods" that they have no knowledge of. Most likely don't even know what makes writing good or bad, but just keep parroting that same phrase about "bad writing and story".

    This exactly

well tbf we know joel's story, but not abby's. so who's to say abby and her father didn't do some f***ed up s***? everybody in that world is their own pos in one way or the other, so why focus on karma when there's much more interesting topics e.g. cure, world building w the characters at tommy's settlement, etc.

the game already gave us some good worldbuilding for jackson in the opening hours and some of the flashbacks

an entire game revolving around a peaceful community would be incredibly uneventful

and I don’t see how rehashing the cure plot which was already covered in the first game would be interesting at all either, maybe it can be revisited in the third game somehow to wrap up the story but I really don’t see how covering that here would somehow be a more interesting story at all

Hey guys. I just told my girlfriend (who is “of color” and supports the LGBTQ community) the plot of this game and the fact that they made the main characters trans and lesbian, and she nearly threw up in her mouth she was so disgusted.

Now don’t get it twisted, she wasn’t disgusted about anyone being trans/lesbian, but more so the fact that this company had a responsibility to give the level of art and craftsmanship that the OG delivered, and they instead took the coward’s way out and pandered to these political movements.

I tried assuring her that there are people on this forum that have played it and vow that it’s not agenda-driven, but she says that, given the timing of everything, it just seems a little hard to believe, and tbh it’s difficult to disagree.

SO, now that 24 hours have gone by and you’ve been able to traverse through more of the game, be honest with us, and more importantly yourselves:

Is this game a “woke” crybaby SJW-fest?

the reason I bring up the cure is bc even through all the f***ed up s*** in the first game, what keeps it going is that small sliver of hope for humanity. in comparison this game just feels bleak, hopeless and directionless especially w the ending...

Abby isn’t a trans you clown......

And there is no SJW pandering in this game at all other than the fact that Ellie is a lesbian and we’ve known this since Left Behind came out on PS3 years ago.
