and as a profit share partner employee if I asked my company for a full breakdown of revenue, expenses, and profit, I would still expect an excel spreadsheet. although I wouldn’t mind a PDF. I wouldn’t care either way.
if I wanted more than that, like say a full audit including all of the receipts and invoices, I would expect pushback and for them to look at me crazy bc it’s a lot of f***ing work and an aggressive form of mistrust.
It’s clear you get taken advantage of. At work we gotta send PDF docs as it is signed by multiple people and locked from edits after. We actually got audited and they demanded everything in PDF/signed afterwards

Yeah, my company does this as well. We do both excel and pdfs/DocuSign. It really depends on the request and the task at hand.
Accounting is really a general term that includes millions of little tasks with different processes. In this scenario I picture the accountant simply just exported a CSV and shared it with them since excel has an itemized breakdown or Joe just forwarded the most recent Excel that he had because he's okay with the format and understands each item.
At the end of the day, no 2 companies are the same. There is no standard process there all millions of programs.
We are arguing for the sake of arguing at this point.

The length can all depend on the date range, how things are broken out and how things were requested.
A high-level breakdown could simply be:
Spotify xxxx
Paetron xxxx
YouTube xxx
Expenses xxxx
Salaries xxxx
Equipment xxxxWithout actually seeing the document we are just speculating.
At the end of the day, the facts are it is Joe’s company and he is within his right to fire them at any time regardless of the alleged shady s***. Rory and Mal’s course of action is to take him to a court or to shut up and move on.
We all need to stop arguing about documents. Every company has a different process and in this scenario, the accounting firm gains nothing from cooking the books for Joe. If exposed they could lose their license which could cost them hundreds of millions.
If there's anything you should believe it is the numbers provided by the accountant. Picking a side is pointless as both sides are biased and contradicting themselves. The guys would have a case against the accounting firm and Joe if they are hiding money. Plus if the numbers are wrong Joe would have a case against the accounting firm as well. The risk associated with stealing money for accounting firm is simply not worth it.
