Lol I know what Joe was REALLY trying to say in that Drake-Wayne convo, because he’s alluded to it in the past.

Very simply, Joe thinks Drake gets a lot of protection and privileges in the music industry because of his Jewish background and the majority of the big wigs in the industry are Jewish. Which allows him to avoid some of the issues Wayne has had monetarily and otherwise.

I don’t agree, and I hate all the dumb jewish conspiracy s*** cause it’s gross, but trust me, that is 100% what Joe believes. He’s hinted at it for years that he believes that.

Personally, I just don’t think Joe realizes that Drake really has been much bigger for much longer than Wayne. Wayne’s commercial peak was actually very short compared to how long his career has been (C3 through C4 basically, with a bunch of free mixtapes sprinkled in before and during) while Drake has been a commercial giant from Album 1 through present day. They really aren’t on as even of a playing field as he thinks even though Wayne is a household name. The labels are gonna bend for Drake, based off that, not because he has a yarmukle in his closet.

    It’s the truth

You kinda underrating Wayne here. Yeah he wasn’t the top guy in the game as long as Drake but he was going platinum consistently on Universal for 5+ years (whether solo or penning for Birdman) before Carter 3 era

Lil Wayne saved a whole label from falling off strictly due to his talent and work ethic.

He is the reason Drake even add a label to call home.

Drake still has not passed Lil Wayne's commercial Peak.

    While this is true

I also remember Replacement Girl coming on TeenNick in between Drake and Josh and Mr. Meaty reruns and Degrassi

He’s definitely been connected long before he was a proven success

Nobody that’s why MMG and TDE took over

Drake wasn’t “holding up” YMCMB past Wayne coming home from Rikers he’s been repping OVO since 2013 lol

It was Wayne Tyga Nicki and Drake and once Wayne and Birdman have their thing + Drake vs. Tyga and then Drake vs. Meek nobody looked at YMCMB as some unified force after 11-12 at the latest with forced moments here and there

Would be cool to see one last project song or moment tho

I think the simple answer to this is the team around them. Any Wayne fan will tell you Tez & Mack Maine are about as incompetent as they come and they were the ones managing Wayne’s career the contracts he signed, etc. Honestly it’s amazing Wayne was able to blow like he did in spite of them.

Drake’s team is akin to Lebron’s friends that are extremely intelligent, in tune with what’s happening and actually good at what they do.

Part of how we respect and view a player's greatness is through branding especially in the social media era.

Even before social mefia tho we see the difference in how players who attract attention with women and glash then silent ones.

Tim Duncan isn't held as highly in general public circles as other players with less his legacy because he never had a "star personality" Or big time stories.

Even now I know alot of folks who don't care about Basketball that know the Ball brothers but don't know Kawhi and he has an actual record.

Wayne has addiction issues, Drake never had that and could keep his focus

I’m not talking bout as a crew im talking bout as a label from a revenue standpoint. Drake was their only thing really relevant from like 2013 until Scorpion with the exception of a few months of Nicki hype 2014 and 18

“I mean I keep the f***ing lights on in the building I mean my record deal should be 500 million”

I mean Drake had already had connections in TV and he was more palatable as a pop act than Wayne, not that Wayne wasn't because he was killing s*** with Lollipop, A milli, Love Me, etc...

After a while Drake became a much safer bet for labels, also depends on who Drake has representing him, anyway

Ok u delusional on that last sentence, the rest I agree

shoutout to wayne but Drake literally has the most Billboard top 10s of all time over Madonna, beatles elvis, MJ

this coming from a non-stan Drake has been kinda mid for me for years but just had to say it
