there was a point recently where Joe was starting to lean more PC, I think as that New York Times article was loading, adding Marc for more serious topics and even told the cohosts he’s tryna get that Emmy time and time again

but it seems like whatever happened behind the scenes, he’s pivoted entirely and just don’t care about being accepted by a major major audience anymore, like Mona not getting him the Emmy like Mel would speaking on serious topics with Marc to have the pod be viewed in a different light

it seems like Joe just can’t step away during the serious topics because he knows the people he brought in are gonna get too serious and affect his behind the scenes deals by maybe saying s*** they shouldn’t saying. like when his sponsor made him take down that IG story post

Marc seem to be wit the bullshit lol I do think he does add some professionalism up there but I think he fits right in.

Can't really comment on mona yet since I ain't seen a full ep with her. Mel had eye rolling moments, funny at times too but these group of men were taking it too far on her. Even I cringed at times with the s*** they were saying. She couldn't handle it so don't blame her for going but at the same time it's not like I will miss her either

It really felt like Joe was working toward a great podcast that could appeal to a larger audience with Marc and Mel. I will always take the stand that drama and obscene s***talk hinders this podcast and that's exactly what the audience wants unfortunately.

They wanted Mel to get up there and "expose" people, tell who she f***ed and how she f***ed them while Mel just wanted to be a host on the most successful black podcast.

I just want to hear them talk about the f***ing news I don't understand this need to hear about their personal lives and past.

Mona has been doing a great job but I hate that everybody just wants somebody up there who will "give it up"

It just always felt like Mel prioritized optics over the actual content and so she was always holding back. I hope wherever she goes next she can really let her thoughts fly.

And I’m talking all topics—not just the s***or gender stuff. She only really pipes up when there was an opportunity to look smart or socially conscious.

Just always felt like fans wanted too much out of her for me. I think Mel was a very well rounded co-host that can appeal to a large audience and help push the podcast to the next level.

It feels like Joe is trying to make a Reality Show/Podcast hybrid that I understand the appeal of but he needs to just clean house or start something separate for that imo

yea seems like Joe brought in Mona not only to replace Mel, but maybe to replace the lack of quality music discussion that’s been happening cause she appears to he tapped into a lot of artists behind the scenes. her and Emanny probably taking that from Ice and whoever else sucks at that topic

Joe knows the podcast blew up to include A LOT of fair weather fans, but that’s not who clicks on every podcast every time it’s posted immediately. the ones who do are the ones who’ve always been interested in his and the hosts personal lives (and the same ones he talks the most s*** about cause it’s a reverse psychology type of thing to keep your hate watchers, watching and trigger your stan fans to dig deeper) and inevitably must keep getting fed or else you risk losing your core audience to chase an audience that will drop you tomorrow. I also would like a serious podcast and for the pod to shift, but unfortunately I just don’t think it’s ever going to happen

100% I mean going back to the prime years of Joe, R&M, Parks some of their biggest moments were stories about their personal lives. Especially Joe.. they always covered the news or current events but they did it from a “regular” perspective. Not necessarily like a production. Ofcourse they’ve levels up since then but at the core it’s still about entertainment.

I think Mel could’ve fit in well but I think she wanted to represent herself a certain way on camera compared to how she came off when she wasn’t an official member or say a guess on like Drink champs. I’m some ways it clicked and in some ways it didn’t. And I think as time went on she seemed checked out and minimized.

It’s gotta be tough being the only women on the panel and I don’t think she has the same energy a Mona has to thrive in that space around these niggas.

Adding Marc should’ve been a help for Mel she can bounce off energy.. honestly I think they should’ve utilize both of them more and have them do their own content segment.
