he was very wrong and it was annoying they kept trying to “what about” her to death with other roles in hip hop that deserve honoring. i’d love to see engineers, a&r’s, managers, execs, choreographers, designers etc get honored as well, and that doesn’t undercut what she’s saying. all of it can and should be happening at once.

video girls, video directors and photographers were just as important to hip hop in that era as musicians and labels were, because they created the image and gave the fans an identity to buy into, and that’s completely undeniable.
