yeah if I'm as black person familiar to the struggle can connect with a track and it's meaning after a couple listen that's fire...if I see some random white people that don't even care or listen to rap or the culture, going crazy after one listen without even being able to tell what they like about it I'm gonna side eye it.

No it doesn’t imply that at all. It implies his fans ignore counterpoints and truth. It implies his followers, on this website and everywhere else, will love whatever he drops. His biggest fans think every project of his is a classic and legendary so why would I believe they’d view this one any different?

Anyone whose listened to a lot of great hip hop who says Kendrick isn’t wordy I’m going to look at very funny.

I like “ransom” a lot, damn near 15 years after it dropped, but that doesn’t mean saying the alphabet on the song is a good lyric. (side bar the alphabet is something everyone knows so it does provide a sing along element. )

people tend to view kendrick constantly on a line graph of forward trajectory, so when he drops music people expect it to be different, but not just different, but better

that's a large ask when coming off of one of the greatest contemporary rap records of the past decade, so calling damn mid by kendrick standards may just be a misuse of the word
