By the way, I’m not being arrogant, I hope, about this. I don’t say it like, ‘I’m too groovy.’ I’m stupid. There’s a lot of things I don’t know about. And so, I don’t know, I just kind of figured it out, but this was different. What’s really interesting is how much more I got Batman when I went back and did him. I get this on a whole other level now. I totally respect it. I respect what people are trying to make. I never looked at it like, ‘Oh, this is just a silly thing.’ It was not a silly thing when I did Batman. But it has become a giant thing, culturally. It’s iconic. So I have even more respect for it because what do I know? This is a big deal in the world to people. You’ve got to honor that and be respectful of that. Even I go, ‘Jesus, this is huge.’ “

Keaton has traveled a lot in the past few months, shooting Dopesick in Virginia in the spring and The Flash in the U.K. in early summer. “I’ve been gone for a long time, which is one of my least favorite things,” he says. “I’m like an old lady. I am. I like my little house, I like my bed, I like my dogs.”

If you care about artistic freedom and creative direction you would care that they signed these people then discarded them . Whether they shot a frame or not .

Cause look at Wonder Woman we got and upcoming flash we are now getting and tell me that Rick and maclaren couldn’t have delivered something less forgettable with a straight face

Patty Jenkins was supposed to do Thor 2 and dropped out, there are different versions of films in development all the time sometimes for better and for worse.

I would’ve loved to see Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man but that’s not what we got and I’m okay with that because we probably wouldn’t have got Baby Driver or Last Night in Soho if he did do it.

Sometimes a director leaving a project is a blessing. You think Jaws would’ve been as good if D*** Richards wasn’t removed as director? Probably not.

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Rick has done well for himself since leaving Flash including some great Mandalorian episodes and I’m super excited to see what he does next.

There’s a difference between removing a director/messing with their vision while they’re in production and before they even build a set.

In a perfect world, all directors cuts would be out and the directors would have final say. In the world of studio filmmaking that’s not the case and you gotta accept that. It’s rare that it happens and luckily it worked with James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.
