Rage against the machine my example . Lupe truth to power and some level of action but again eventually artist black ball themselves . Also those in power create controversies for the artist or they go somewhat crazy Mia and ye that they become part of what they used to fight against

if your influence has the ability to be "blackballed" by the powers that be than you don't...really have any power.

If you are signed to a label you by default don't really have any power.

    You can't blackball a community leader or a kid/teenager with a gun.

I mean the logic of those saying artist should say nothing they have to fear an artist they love will be blackballed

I do think the silence on ICE when it's like...they coming after niggas too...is more astounding but like I said, mainstream hip hop as a genre has been cooked for decades. I been mainly listening to a lot of R&B this year besides $ilkmoney

Art itself is not an industry. Art is just art.

It is industry itself that has been the biggest killer of the arts.

If yall think the youth needs rappers and popstars to inspire them to take action then yall aren't giving them enough credit

Bad Bunny one of the biggest voices against ICE.

Taylor Swift is a loser and sooner or later her fanbase gonna look back and be like how she never really used her platform for s*** besides "my boyfriend's red D***" is kinda wack.

I think people expect rappers because hip hop was always kinda looked at as the "political" genre. And as the youngest of genres was seen as where you would get the "real s***"

Never realizing we would already at the end of the genre by now.

Imo it comes from the expectation that non black artist speak for themselves but black artist and genres are expected to speak on EVERYONE.

I brought up Bad Bunny and your first thought was to say he speaks up on ICE when my question was like the thread title about Epstein because it didn't even factor in your mind that he would have to speak on that.

I said earlier itt that epstein aint really a rap issue tho

I do think black artists should speak out on ICE because it's affecting black people. The common misconception (even irl) is that it's only affecting hispanics.
