He is
Both suburban, both drama club kids. Both nerds, etc
Only difference is Drake got his new persona earlier than Bino did
Drake doesn’t fake his personality his way of acting is literally just the average toronto black kid
Black Canadians are basically just african Americans that have to grow up around white people but that doesn’t make them necessarily white washed (although a lot are) it just makes them really f***ing good at code switching and navigating different spaces even more so than african American kids
Cus black people here still grow up with whatever immigrant black culture plus african American culture basically from childhood
Not to mention drakes dad is from Houston so when u hear drake talk to other black people or use aave any expert can tell it’s natural for him but also when he goes on like ellen and sounds white as hell that’s also pretty natural for him too. He’s not really faking

Casting not for the sake of casting

…didn’t say there weren’t aspects of him that aren’t white influenced lol
Still doesn’t mean he fakes anything about his cultural persona lol

Drake a suburban biracial bro
Also I’m not saying Drake and Gambino are white washed or anything like that. I’m just saying they’re both suburban nerds who put on a cool guy persona later in life
they're both suburban nerds but their experiences in life are different bc drake is biracial. they're both a different kind of suburban corny due to that

Mans dont realize he looks dumb as s***. He went to dictionary dot com like " I GOT THEM"

Fam they just don't understand us or the culture here lol no big deal honestly
I’ll just say on the suburban tip, that isn’t a clear indicator of not growing up with the “black experience” as oppose to the hood n projects. Especially nowadays. It really depends on the specific place you’re talking about. There are a lot of suburbs that are more or less hood adjacent, and the people living there are with the s***s no question.

Personally I hate it cause it's almost implying and perpetuates that Black people from the hood cannot be well-spoken or educated, or that they can't have interests in non hood s***. That kinda thinking is corny af, leads to more division, and in a lot of ways is holding us back.

Niggas act like Black/Latino suburbs do not exist lol

I feel like americans see black people as poor immediately so they get confused when a group of well off black people exist while keeping our black culture lol
Some of the most prolific actors in cinema are Harry Belafonte and Diahann Carrol both 'light skined'
James Earl Jones
Sidney Portier,
Dorthy Dandridge
Pryor & Mooney
Paul Robeson
Directors such as
Oscar Michaux
Van Peebles
Ava Duvernay
As with anything, we're experiencing lulls and cycles. Imagine if we had the voice or platforms we do today with the classically trained actors and actresses from the 70s aka the Blaxplotation era.
The Black Cinema landscape hasn't reached its peak yet but it is being severely controlled. Most of this is our issue as we have this need for 'Big Brother' to pitch in. There's no way or reason why the Sound Track of Curtis Mayfield and talents of Ron O'Neal should be limited to Super Fly (great film but come on) That's why films such as The Spook That Sat By The Door are so special.
Remove the politics and focus on the arts.

That’s not what I’m saying at all
Apparently saying a biracial kid raised by his white mother and a suburban kid who didn’t even grow up around blacks isn’t gonna be able to relate to a lot of black s*** is a controversial statement and means I think black = poor

Not necessarily you but this forum has a habit of straw manning s*** lmao
Niggas on this forum talk like they’re immune to getting punched in the face cuz they grew up on government cheese

I wouldn't go that far with it but it is for sure some dumb s***. It's some self-inflicted division. Some niggas be wanting us to be a monolith so bad.
That’s not what I’m saying at all
bruh we went over this a long time ago lol you just dont really know what goes on up here and thats cool lol
all im gonna say is that if u come to canada and actually live w niggas here, you'll see that drakes behavior aint really that weird or suspect lmao

So it’s commonplace for a young black man in Toronto to never hit up a black barbershop till he’s an adult?
