Nah colorism is a huge issue historically. That s*** play a part in the treatment of certain kids growing up. We all know dark skin people that were treated s***ty because they were darker than everyone and a lot of times they grow up hating their skin and themselves. We can tackle more than 2 issues at once.
No we can't lol, people say this but that's false lol
A cause must be put in front of the others or you won't get enough focus on it to change anything
Colorism should be put to the side
That was the movie I was thinking of lmao s*** was so meh I couldn’t remember the name. Wasn’t a fan of The Photograph with Lakeith either
Didn’t see the photograph.
I mean I appreciate the effort in making black romance without the trauma, but it’s just not that interesting
Everything changed during the crack era
Black folks went from the most United community of people and divided ourselves, all the problems that existed before were exacerbated
Whole family and group structure fell apart, then came the envy, greed, anger and murder
Now we divided amongst all these different groups without realizing that we all black first
!!! Good ass post.
I’ll be honest as someone who’s lost a parent to the trade its disheartening to see all our major shows glorifying the trade and influencing the next generation. Like damn we love watching ourselves selling poison to our own community…like BMF used to hold people up at gunpoint on corners to force them to try the product to become addicts, tearing up hella families and niggas still scream free big Meech and he getting a show…just ass backwards
Didn’t see the photograph.

We can, you just don’t have the range to multitask.

People be thinking my mom and brother are Puerto Rican or Dominican cause they're a lighter shade than me, my sister, and father. They ain't even all that light, they're still very clearly Black individuals.

Yeah
I've been saying theres too many people here who think that they can be multiple identities without hurting the black cause. Like some people deadass identify as "black women", "black men", "lightskin black" or "black gays" instead of identifying as black only
Lol some of them are are so entrenched in this mindset that talking them out of it seems useless. Better to just ostracize them from the rest of the community and cast them out
Why would I be banned?
Nigga you always pop up on some slick racist s*** and be defending them every chance that you get

I'm not lol this was a central talking point of black activists in america in the 60's
Differences like gender, class, religion, etc. were all put aside to unite black people as a collective.

saying you are a black man or woman isn't saying you aren't black. I don't know why you put these two with the other two.
Lighter skinned people get treated better than darker skinned people in most countries.
I'm all for the "we Black" line of thinking, but there's a reason why Black people "separate" themselves within our community. Black LGBTQ learned to "separate" themselves because heterosexual Black people be homophobic af and hardly even welcome them into our community.
I don't agree that they should separate themselves. But I'm not gonna sit here and act like they don't do that out of a need for safety.
