Its a passion project for miyazaki, he's been working on this for at least 6 years and its gone through the most playtesting in their catalog, i doubt its a small project unworthy of attention. This is a project of the importance of sekiro, bloodborne and demon's souls, not a small VR or low budget experiment

I have a feeling that people are underestimating this game because of its multiplayer focus. I keep seeing this thinking that multiplayer games are inherently inferior and less artistic than single player games but its bullshit. Game mechanics are art as much as story is (not that this game wont have a story, at least according to miyazaki).
The first thing this game's reveal of multiplayer focus was relief that a great game director isnt resting on his laurels, despite arguably having earned the right to do so, and subsequent curiosity in the approach and results. He's been accused a lot of making the same games with souls, so im glad he switched it up.
But i already know im fighting a losing battle

Well he hasnt been working actively on this in the interviews its pretty obvious its an idea mashing project. Which we just kinda had with Nightreign.

I enjoyed that too but not all ideas worked there either its a mixed bag and I didnt have to get an entire console

He's literally the director? And the entire game's concept including it being multiplayer was his idea he got from playing escape from tarkov

The fate series inspiration is also very clear and he's a fate fanboy like this is one of the most miyazaki coded projects we've gotten from him in a while

I agree. People are being ridiculous. Game looks freaking badass regardless of whether it's multiplayer focused or not. The atmosphere, the character models and the monsters all got Bloodborne and Elden Ring vibes but folks be denying all that just because of the multiplayer focus (which by the way doesn't automatically exclude it from having a single player option). They throwing out the baby with the bathwater and I think it's unwarranted.

I’m so curious what From’s got planned for it’s next proper single player title.

Feel like they’re either gonna straight up do an Elden Ring 2 or go in a radically different direction and either drastically alter the soulsborne formula or move on from it entirely.

Elden Ring (+ Erdtree) just felt so much like the accumulation of all their previous work that I can’t see how they top it.
