Bro despises Drake but finds his way into every Drake thread
What a life
Since when did I despise drake?
Seems like the general consensus on social media lol

Valid point but even the most major hip hop podcasts quickly changed their opinions after listening to it for a few weeks. It was a grower according to them and even haters like Joe Budden called it AOTY.

See my last reply , that’s a fair point

If all you need is a joe budden cosign then theres nothing I can say
Music is at weird spot right now and $$$ being anywhere near AOTY is a result of that
Plus we have a lot of the year left
Most people would pick like 5 different 2024 albums over whats dropped so far this year
Let God Sort Em Out coming soon
Let God Sort Em Out coming soon
I stopped waiting for that s*** it will drop when it drops
Drake stans clinging to Nokia reminds me of Ye stans clinging to Carnival last year.
It's legit the only sustainable hit out of a 21 song album where Drake dropped 4 singles and the album had months worth of promo.
That said, I do think Drake is still popular and he's still able to put up big streaming numbers with his tracks and projects. And nobody has taken his lane from him yet. Jack Harlow was supposed to but he's such a watered down mid version of Drake that nobody would take him over the real McCoy.
Basically, Drake is still a dominant figure just off of name recognition and staying hot for so long but he's no longer deemed to be in his prime or at his peak anymore. So, he's kinda in a similar spot as post Carter 4 Wayne. You can draw some parallels there because, even when Wayne was still putting up some numbers after C4, it was clear he was no longer THAT guy anymore.
And it's fine because Drake is approaching 40. He's not as huge with the kids as he used to be but he'll always have lots of fans who support him and grew up on him to ride for him even in the midst of the beefs and antics.
C4 Wayne was a weird time for me as a fan. I felt like he was no longer THE GUY in rap and that he was falling a bit into being ONE OF the guys, like a dude who once averaged 35 points a game who starts maxing out at 27 points a game.

Same brother I’m not believing no more ktt insiders

Oh. Wayne was very much still THE GUY in 2011.
He had the best selling rap album that year with the highest fw sales.
But C4 was when he really started to get polarizing. It's like 50 Cent with the Massacre. It was a really successful album but people were very divided into thinking it was a dope follow up to GRODT or thinking it was a mid letdown that was too bloated/uneven. Same applies to C4. People were very divided on the album then.
I would say IANAHB2 was when Wayne was no longer THE GUY. He kept delaying the album numerous times. It was supposed to drop in 2012 but he kept changing the release date. Honestly, if it weren't for the success of "Love Me", I'm convinced he would've scrapped the album.
2013 was basically an unintentional "passing the torch" movement for Young Money because that was when Wayne dropped his worst album not named Rebirth and Drake dropped one of his best while having a strong feature run that was rivaling Wayne.
Nokia not really popping off is lowkey one of the tell tale signs of where we at..
That wouldn't have happened prior 2024
It should be bigger
It’s not poppin off????
It’s not poppin off????
It did decent but it’s losing momentum now
Nowhere near the highs or lasting power of Drakes other hits

I think calling $$$ AOTY is a crazy opinion.
Album is average as hell but it's the best rap has to offer in 2025?
If anything, that's more of an indictment on how dry hip hop has been this year.
The underground's been carrying rap yet again quality wise but the mainstream is so lackluster rn that I can see some niggas viewing $$$ as AOTY when it's closest mainstream contenders are a Lil Baby and a Carti album lmao.
