But imo like my own experiences as a Drake fan. The new s*** don’t hit the same on a number of diff levels. A lot of glimpses or sparks here and there but even FATD which I liked well enough more than most I stopped listening to almost entirely less than a year on. Her Loss which I was super high on same story. Like if certain songs come on shuffle I wont skip em but it’s rare I seek em out just to do it like I would with certain older tracks
I think “old drake” is partially an effect of growing up and out of his music to an extent too idk. There’s def a valid convo to be had about it all
He’s been hit of miss for me since after HNVM but the thing is no matter how much his musical decisions and laziness baffle me, I would never act like the person who made all the good stuff is just a separate guy. The “Old Ye” thing was always weird to me but at the root of it was the acknowledgment that he was great but on a downward trend. With Drake it’s like people want to credit every good thing he’s ever done to someone else, even if it’s a younger version of himself
