Fair enough, maybe the “old drake” is more a reflection on who / where the listeners were in life and s*** when he resonated most. For me he’s made the same kind of song/ subject matter over annd over. In a lot of cases but not all I prefer the versions I came up with.

Plus, a lot of FATD came off soooo bitter and idk i liked it but to beat a dead horse I wish him or the music would show some signs of maturity or growth since I’m just not in that kinda juvenile mindset anymore. I have the older music for that.

His back catalog and even some of the early 20s stuff is aging incredibly well. 51m daily streams isn’t normal at all. Only Taylor does that on a regular basis. And Bad Bunny when he has an album out

I agree but I thought it would be more severe. I mean his back catalogue is still up there with everyone except Drake’s numbers.

But I agree. He’s made himself impossible to culturally celebrate and champion.

I kinda agree. Honestly a lot of my frustration with him is for how much worse his reputation is than it should be for an artist of his caliber (imo) and how completely unnecessary some of his musical compromises have been. Like FATD is just a very gross album for a 36yo to make. I’m not expecting him to drop a Mr Morale or anything but ffs man at least talk about your life with some gravity. Or go all-in on the pop star thing which would also be cool.

FATD as an idea “toxic scorned ex music” could have been really really cool if he really stretched and flexed his song writing muscles. Like a male Sza album that’s toxic but not in a “I hate women, f*** you Rihanna for moving on and starting a happy family” way and more admitting faults and s***. More Tried Our Best’s

If there was ever a time for him to do that it would have been FATD funny enough

This last year has made me question if he even has that kind of stuff in his skillset anymore. I used to think the whole toxic immature thing was just a bit but I genuinely think he’s not in a space to be reflective at all rn and the constant media attention might’ve fried his brain or something. I do think it’ll be interesting looking back at this era of his career though (I’m still hoping it’s just a phase or something)
