open to the public now ๐ณ

My other favourite artist Francisco Goya, personally I love his Black Paintings he made when he was going old, and insane, they just have this insanity and frightfulness to them that captures me.

I bought a book about witches just cuz it had this as its cover

Not Goya but clearly a reference to the painting before

The "Third of May" gotta be my favourite from him, painted in 1814 its about the Napoleonic Wars, a time where war was still seen as a place where men test how great they are, it was painted 100 years before World War 1 where the true light of war was shown to the general public, in 1814 there was still paintings done show casing war as a place where men become Gods, but Goya from being Spain, a nation that was ravaged by Napoleon, Goya paints not some glorious battle but rather unarmed men being executed by soldiers , showing us how ugly war has, 100 years before the brutal trench warfare of WW1 would show rest of the world.
